Dutiful Guardian and Mounts
« on: August 03, 2012, 07:23:58 PM »
The Dutiful Guardian feat from DotU allows the character with the feat to switch places with the target of the Constant Guardian Feat and take an attack in its place. If the character with the feat is a mount, and the one being guarded is the the mounted, what exactly happens?
Being mounted, I believe they occupy the same space, but would this cause them to dismount, or would it make it so one could not guard the other?
Im really bad at what I do.
A+

I'd let it work fine and not worry about it.  But, I might be uncommonly generous with such things.  If you happen to have a mount who can take 2 feats, you've put some effort into getting one.  It's not just a run of the mill horse/riding dog.

I'd like to think it would create one of those bouncing rogue moments, where the mount is shifted "up" or where ever to take the hit but the rider is still mounted so they move with the mount. So you just have the mount in mid air now with a rider, but if the attack is a fireball.... hehe well you would have to repeat until the rider is out of range of the target wouldn't you? Course then it might be falling damage time.... you never know.

The feat makes it so they switch places, right? Then I see only one option when you use it - the mount will ride his master.
