[3.P] Human "template" CR
« on: December 03, 2012, 11:58:17 AM »
As a race, human (and other standard races) are CR 0 creatures. But what if I add all human benefits and traits to another creature? What CR would you give this human "template"? Humans are one of the better standard races so I assume at least +1, but maybe even more? And what about other standard races?
Magic is for weaklings.

Alucard: "*snif snif* Huh? Suddenly it reeks of hypocrisy in here. Oh, if it isn't the Catholic Church. And what's this? No little Timmy glued to your crotch. Progress!"

For clarification, when you're thinking of human benefits and traits, what exactly is that? Bonus feat and skill points? I'd say that is at most +1 CR. Compare the CR increase for adding hit dice, which also increases hp, attack bonus, possibly a stat increase, etc.

A human's bonuses are as follows:

+1 feat at 1st level
+4 skill points at 1st level
+1 skill point every level after for a total of +23 skill points over a 20th level character's adventuring life.
Any bonus language (other than secret stuff like druidic)
Any favored class
Humanoid: Human

Adding all of those to a different race would usually make it +1 CR/LA at most.

Definitely +1, might even qualify as +0 CR on a suitably poor monster (Constructs or mindless undead I suppose)

Anything a human gets. Jack's human is 3.5. PF human gets much more.

The PF human would still be just +1 CR. +2 to an ability score isn't enough to prop it up to the next CR, and none of the alternate racial traits are good.

There's more to PF races than alternate racial traits.

Alternate racial traits are one thing.  Alternate favored class abilities are another, for example.
