Ethereal Jaunt and a Bag of Holding...
« on: April 20, 2013, 11:23:42 AM »
Suppose a mage has Ethereal Jaunt and a Bag of Holding type 4 (the largest one).

The other party members all pile into the bag of holding, and the Wizard casts ethereal jaunt, transporting himself and his equipment (ie - the bag) to the ethereal plane.  The wizard opens the bag and dumps all his party mates out onto the ethereal plane.

A little more than a minute later the ethereal jaunt spell ends, the wizard and the bag are shifted back to the material plane.

What happens to the other party members?

Are they "stuck" on the ethereal plane?  Do they shift back to the material plane as well?

That's awesome!!! :P

it'd prob work with portable hole and the kobold trap version, you just need a surface to put them on (more likely on the Astral and Shadow)

shadow cache would work too... Just stuff the bag in and wait for it to be stolen ;)

or get a phase spider and have it drop it off

spell effects do not cross through claudications of non-dimensional spaces. therefore, while the claudication interface (ie: the bag) is affected due to its status as gear, those inside would not be affected. as such, when the claudication is reactivated, connecting the interface to the non-dimensional space, and the contents dumped, they would thus find themselves on the ethereal under their own power and means and not affected by the spell in any way.

sounds like someone needs a 'force substantiation' effect.
