Freedom vs. Dimensional Anchor/Lock
« on: May 29, 2013, 01:24:18 PM »
Does that work? Is there any way (other than SR, dispelling, or Wish) to get around a Dimensional Anchor? What about Dimensional Lock? Would Limited Wish overcome Dimensional Anchor?

yes it should (it's a 9th level spell after all) and limited wish (being 3 levels higher than dimensional anchor and costing 300 xp) should work, too.

On a related note, Dimensional Anchor is an incredibly effective option for many higher-level play campaigns as a Spell Mastery spell to be used with Uncanny Forethought.  At such levels, everybody and their uncle has teleportation SLAs, SUs, spells or gear.  And it pays to force those surprise critical plotline enemies, annoying recurrent harassers, and/or BBEGs to let the party decide their ultimate fate.

There's the freedom of passage spell (Polyhedron 159, p12).

Also, Lightning Leap (CM p.109) works.  It's not a teleportation spell, so you can still use it to travel up to 60'.
What do I win?
An awesome-five for mentioning Penny Arcade's On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness.

Yeah, I saw a thread asking about Master Earth, and Lightning Leap was mentioned there too.  I'm more interested in either [teleportation] spells that still work, or ways to get rid of Dimensional Anchor/Lock.

There's the freedom of passage spell (Polyhedron 159, p12).

Where can I find this?  I did a quick search earlier and only found places trying to sell me the magazine.

I was going to mention the Translocation Trick spell.  But when it got updated from 3.0 (MoF) to 3.5 (SpC), it got changed from a Transmutation [Teleportation] spell to a Conjuration [Teleportation] spell.

So ... nevermind.   :p

One of my players has arranged to be continuously under a Dimensional lock that she can raise and lower at will. She got sick and tired of, "And the bad guy scoops you up with a conjuration spell!" Or, "You get teleported into a volcano!"
If you have questions about 3.5 D&D, you might want to look at the:

Tacked on question:
Is this too much?--- to use a feat to make your Diminsional Anchor supernatural so nobody can dispel it and it bypasses SR?????????

What about the guy who says Freedom doesn't work because teleportation isn't "movement," it's teleportation.   And he backs it up with "you stand still when you  teleport."

Nevermind.  I get it now.  Freedom the high level spell, not 'freedom of movement.'
