Curious about Wall of Greater Dispel Magic
« on: July 03, 2013, 12:38:24 PM »
Can spells like lightning bolt still travel through the invisible wall? Is it only the target that walks through it affected by the targeted greater dispel magic?

Quote from: Wall of Dispel Magic, SpC 233
This spell creates a transparent, permeable barrier. Anyone passing through
it becomes the target of a dispel magic
effect (PH223) at your caster level.
A
summoned creature targeted in this
way can be dispelled by the effect.
A wall of dispel magiccannot be seen
or  felt  by  ordinary  means,  or  even
with a see invisibilityspell. Detect magic
indicates the presence of the effect, and
true seeing reveals its presence.

Creatures are targeted, not spells.

For easy reference
Wall of Greater Dispel Magic
Wall of Dispel Magic
Dispel Magic

By RAW, it says "anyone", so it would affect only creatures/people/etc passing thru, not spells themselves.

But personally, I'd do everything that passes through.

Creatures are targeted, not spells.
That's what I figured. Just needed confirmation.

If you are looking for something to stop spell casting, Dispelling Screen does just that.
