1st-level feat choice help for Warpsoul
« on: November 15, 2011, 01:15:20 PM »
So, I'm making a 1st-level Warpsoul for X-codes' sandbox game, and I'm not sure where to go with feats.  I get three at first level.

I figure to be using the Athach Gauntlets with a light crossbow, and the Blackcloak for the miss chance.  When I level up and can bind to my crown chakra I'll probably switch to the Gibbering Mask for offense.  I was thinking PBS since I'll be mostly doing ranged at the beginning, and I may be able to retrain later as I gain more options from my chakra binds.

Other than that... I'm not sure where to go.  What should I grab with my other two feats?

CN Azurin Warpsoul 1
32pb Str 8 Dex 12 Con 18 Int 10 Wis 16 Cha 8
Feats: PBS, ?, ?

Soulmelds: Athach Gauntlets (+1+ess to ranged attack rolls), Blackcloak (10%+ess*5% miss chance)
Attack: Light X-bow +3 (1d8), +1 atk/dmg w/in 30 ft
Defense: Studded leather, buckler

EDIT: Just to summarize, Warpsoul is an incarnum base class that uses soulmelds related to aberrations (like totemist melds are related to magical beasts).

I don't have much idea of what you are playing there, but since you consider ranged combat, there are some feats that might help:
-PBS (Prereq for many things and +1 to hit)
-Precise Shot (you can't afford to take nearly every fight -4 to attacks)
-Improved Precise Shot (but there are gloves in the MiC for 8k IIRC that do the same)
-Rapid Reload (you need this at level 9)
-Improved Rapid Shot (from CW, I think this could be useful, but you won't have enough feats)

Your thread title is also too vague.

Hmmm... you may be right.  I'll adjust it.

As for feats, I think PBS is a good idea, and Precise Shot as well (though I may retrain them later when I have more capabilities).  The third should maybe be... Improved Initiative?  I only get one attack per round at this point, so I don't think Rapid Reload is worth it, and anyway I'll stop relying on the crossbow at level two (though ranged attacks will still be my MO).
