What book is this artwork in?
« on: August 28, 2013, 06:34:18 PM »
I can't think of what D&D book this artwork is in.  Since I don't know that, I obviously can't show it to you.

It is of a red skeleton (with fiery hair?) that has to do with fire, I think.  IIRC, the artist was Sardina or something like that. (Sarhdina?) but I can't recall the name exactly, so google won't help.  It is not the Vilewight from BoVD (though BoVD was the first place I checked).  The picture is mostly red, and is done in a "less refined" style.  It also is not the Lavawight from the ELH.

Anybody got a clue?

Well, the artist is most likely "Sardinha" (it actually means sardine [the fish]) in Portuguese), Rick Sardinha... That guy made, for example, the illustration for the Grick in MM.

I'll be on the lookout for that image in his artwork.

EDIT: I'll be posting some of my finds here...

It's probably lavawight (Epic Level Handbook, p200), but effigy (Monster Manual II, p89) is pretty close too.

Neither one of those.

All right, how about fire specter (Ghostwalk, p162)?

That is exactly the one!

The problem is that it isn't in the Ghostwalk Art Gallery.  Ghostwalk's art gallery was the second one I checked, after BoVD.

Thanks a bunch! Glad to know I'm not going crazy!

:eh You sure 'bout that? On Topic, now (sorta), I've tried often to get the 3.0 blink dog's artwork online, but have had a very hard time. Closest I've gotten is a DA copy (I assume it's a copy, anyway).

Oh I have it in paper format, but it's kinda dark. I presumed that the PDF would be the same. That's why I'm sorry that I never got it from the old WotC gallery. Presuming that it was there; I don't recall seeing it. But that was about 12y ago.
