4 out of 5 StarsNot necessarily my cup of tea, but the length and detail of the work shows that this product was a labor of love.Gary P.
5 out of 5 StarsFantasy Adventure to Adult Lechery is an RPG with an emphasis on realism and historical accuracy. The major strengths of this product focus on player character options not devoted solely to adventuring, to better diversify the type of games which can be played.Since it would be dishonest not to cover this bias, I'll mention that the author is writing my paychecks. Regardless, I feel that my review is a fair judgment of the book. This game has earned some controversy for the inclusion of detailed rules for sex and gender-based ability modifiers. The politically correct hand-wringing failed to mention that FATAL's emphasis is on gritty realism, so the inclusion of xenophobia, torture, and pervasive sexism adds to the setting instead of detracting from it. To those who might be uncomfortable with the subject matter, remember that the author has the right to create such fiction just as much as you have the right to be offended by it.I heartily recommend FATAL to anyone who enjoys realistic and detailed fantasy role-playing games.William H.
3 out of 5 starsFinally, I've found an RPG book with a mature and detailed treatment on eroticism! Despite the diversity of fantasy creatures, I feel that other so-called RPG "sex books" focus far too much on consensual humanoid sexuality. Sex is a large part of human nature, it feels unnatural to not include it in RPGs. We focus on violence aplenty in products without complaint, despite it being far less common in real-world society. That's far more bizarre than our gaming fiction, don't you think? My only complaint is that FATAL is too rules-heavy. Oftentimes I find myself flipping past dozens of pages to calculate the success of my ogre berserker's sexual performance when a quick and dirty approach would be more suitable. *Fiendish Grin*In short, I highly recommend FATAL for anyone open-minded enough to explore a setting far removed from the Puritannical social norms of both real-world and fantasy societies.Edwin T. 1 out of 5 starsThis product is dumb. The rules make no sense, the game mechanics focus way too much on rape, and despite its claims of historical accuracy there is scant info on real-world medieval societies. Don't buy it.Richard I.Publisher Reply:I'm sorry to hear that you did not enjoy our book, but the personal attack in the first sentence is uncalled for. As a scholar well-versed in medieval societies, I feel that erasing the treatment of women would do a disservice to the verisimilitude of the setting. It would be a far greater crime to pretend that the injustices of the past did not happen at all. I personally feel that the wanton brutalities grant heroes the opportunity to shine that much brighter and rise above it, or alternatively indulge in it. There's no point in heroism if it's the only option. It's all just a game, and has no bearing on reality. We have other works in the future. I hope that you give us a second chance.Best Regards,Byron Hall
