Help with an Anima Mage/Factotum gestalt
« on: September 24, 2013, 03:31:16 PM »
Hey all,

So my local group is starting a new game.  It is an "evil" game with a focus on heavy combat, not all but a lot according to our DM. We were told to build a level 10 gestalt character, we can use two flaws of feats, stats can be adjusted to fit a concept... Just nothing too overboard. We we are a group of pretty heavy optimisers. The DM instructed us to build whatever we like... Just no infinite loops or horrible breaking of the action economy (ie Planar Shepard or Beholder Mage).

With that said I plan on using JaronK's "cheesiest" build: binder/archivist/anima mage/tainted scholar/tenebrous apostate on one side and Factotum on the other. I know one PC will be a Codzilla/warblade and the other some rakshasa/soul stealer monk thing.

So, what race/template selection would you recommend? I was thinking necropolitan/dragon wrought silverbrow... But I'm open. Also how many fonts should I get?

Thanks,
Ruvaen

Not sure about race/template, but as for Fonts I would say 3 is a good break point.  If you are staying straight Factotum on that side it will give you 4 extra standard actions at 20 and at 10 will give you two plus a couple spells to buff with.

That what sorta what I was thinking, Skevvix.  With three Fonts by 10th level and the Improved Binding which is required for the build, that is four out of seven feats.  At least one of the three remaining needs to be a Metamagic.  Any other suggestions?  JaronK had suggested Divine Defiance.  I don't think will have the turns to power DMM. So what metamagics would you suggest?

Thanks all!

Well with the Tennebrous vestige you get unlimited turns, one at a time. Great for fueling the devotion feats or other divine feats. Water gets you an at will water elemental, sun can have your weapon glow with true sunlight if you expect to face vampires, travel can let you take a move as a swift action, holy vigor can give fast healing to all living allies equal to your charisma modifier for a minute.

What could be even better is 2 levels of chameleon on the factotum side for the changeable bonus feat for these.

Maybe look into shadow craft mage on the factotum side also. You could end up with unlimited lower level spells if you can use the illusions from haures or the other vestiges to create the shadow conjuration/evocation effects. Haures gives at will major image and another one gives persistent image, but I can't remember which one.

Also don't forget to read the binder summoning handbook for zceryll.

(slightly off topic)

Factotum 9 with Cohort Erudite StP 7, hands all Wiz/Sorc spells to the cohort, doesn't use casting anymore.  Now what?

Rakshasa?  perhaps the Savage Species racial class for it, with the extra juicy 3.0e version.

Note that my build used Tainted Sorcerer, not Tainted Scholar.  Even more nastiness!

And yes, you use Divine Defiance with Tenebrous for endless counterspelling all day long.
