Splitting loot

Well, if the group is actually decent people, a communal pool works pretty well really.

We already use a pool for common items that benefit the whole party, like wands of... various stuff and Field Provision Boxes. Otherwise, everyone just spends the loot as they see fit.

We also agreed that the items we intend to keep, are bought with the loot at selling vale.

Example: If i'm wearing a Ring of Protection +1 (2k) belonging to the party, and want to keep it, i add it to the "loot for sale" list.
After the total loot is calculated, i'll spend 1k (i.e. the selling value) of my share to buy that ring for myself.

I usually don't split loot for PCs who aren't actually there or helping. That's just not very fair; it's payment, not a charity.


If the PC was out adventuring, then maybe the GM can roll on a treasure table appropriate for the offscreen adventure. That can also help him explain in more detail what he was doing in that time.

The player is there, but he's the DM now so he can't actually, well, help the party. Since we'll be taking turns at the DM spot, the whole point is to keep things fair and even up the party in various aspects, including the equipment value.
