Tripping bruiser build idea for new campaign
« on: March 30, 2014, 04:08:02 PM »
Hi all,

My friend is starting up a campaign soon with a heavy undead and outsider theme and am looking for some help on a build idea I had.

The DM is being crazy generous and giving me some handicaps as a melee player consisting of 2 flaws, a +1 LA template for free, and stat rolls of: 18, 18, 16, 16, 12, 10. Everyone else is playing higher tier classes (Wizard, Archivist, Cleric) and thought the bonuses would help. There is a rogue too who is getting some cool stuff.

All official sources allowed as long as the DM approves

Anyways, the build I had in mind involved the PrC Hordebreaker from Silver Marches and Frenzied Berserker. Here's what I have so far:

Race: Mongrelfolk maybe? With Feral Creature Template
Stats: Str 22 (18+4), Dex 16 (18-2), Con 22 (16+4+2), Int 10 (16-6), Wis 12 (10+2), Cha 8 (12-4)
Lvl Progression:
1-3: Wolf Totem Barbarian: Imp Trip, (1) Power Attack, (flaw) Intimidating Rage, (flaw) Exotic Wep: Spiked Chain, (3) Destructive Rage
ACF: Spirit Lion Totem: Pounce
4-5: Fighter 2: (Bonus x2) Cleave, Great Cleave
6-10: Hordebreaker: (6) Combat Reflexes (9) Knockdown
Features:
Horde Enemy x3: As favored enemy, I picked Undead, Evil outsider, and maybe human as 3rd.
Hold the Line: AoO against charges in threatened area resolved before charge finishes
Tough to kill: Partial actions when in negatives
Anvil of Doom: +2 Str, +4 Con, +4 Dodge AC, +2 resist bonus to saves, but cannot move from spot he started in
11-20: Frenzied Berserker: (12) Robilar's Gambit, (15) Extra Rage, (18) Reckless Rage
+ Str at all levels

And there it is. The thought I have behind this is to get in a spot that bottlenecks the droves of undead/demons/devils, have the casters grease all around me and go nova on everything :D.

With Rage, Frenzy, and Anvil up I'll have 45 Str (27+18) and 34 Con (24+10) without any equipment.

Anything that I hit for more than 10 damage I get to trip. If manage to trip, I get a free attack. Anything that swings at me I get to AoO. And I'm surrounded by grease so hopefully I don't kill my buddies :P

Is there anything I missed or anything I could do to make it better? Any mistakes? What about race and template? Maybe something large?

Also, before anyone says not to play Frenzied Berserker, my friends were the ones who suggested it and won't hold it against me if I kill them all.

Thanks,
Seco

A mineral warrior (Underdark, p96) earth dwarf (Unearthed Arcana, p16) would be nice.
