How long was a "turn" in 1st edition?

I'm reading through some older modules, and I need some clarification on how long some time increments are. From my initial exposure to 2nd edition in the late '90's, I vaguely recall that a round was actually 1 minute, and a turn was... 10 minutes?

Yup. 1 turn = 10 rounds = 10 minutes.

1 Segment = ~6 seconds
10 Segments = 1 Round = 1 minute
... but Gygax (or ?) was rather clear, that this was an approximation. 1 round of fighting included lots of "stuff" that only happens to be quantifiable finally as d8 damage.
