Gamers celebrate advent of 5th Edition by burning 4E books
« on: July 28, 2014, 06:05:25 PM »
Link.

As long as it's books they own, they're well within their right, buuuuut...

Kinda creepy, if you ask me.

It is a fairly dramatic statement.  Kind of Jimi Hendrix, but y'know, like bitter and geeky.

I'm not all that creeped out by it; I guess game books burned by a few individuals doesn't quite trigger my Nazi vibe.

That's what I associate it with, yeah. It's not like the Nazis were the only ones who ever burned books (not that other book burnings were any better).
That gargoyle is cool, though.

Given that he apparently did some sort of testimonial about how the great and holy D&D had returned to them, banishing the evil mechanics to the four winds, i'd expect he wants nothing less.

Don't remind me.
Some people are -- at least -- making real art sculptures out of old books.

It's kinda weird (I'm a good judge of weird, eh?)
that people shell out piles of $$ for things they don't use at all.
And then pitch them anyways.
 :fu you people.

I don't pee messages into the snow often , but when I do , it's in Cyrillic with Fake Viagra.  Stay frosty my friends.

There's a huge difference between burning books in order to suppress the ideas within, burning books as a symbol of protest, and burning books out of necessity. The first is appalling, the second is free speech, and the third is tragic.
I'm not arguing, I'm explaining why I'm right.
