3.5 Rules of the Game articles just went up in smoke
« on: July 31, 2014, 01:07:12 PM »
I just happened to find that the 3.5 Rules of the Game articles appear to have been vaporized.   :shakefist

They still show up on google cache, but who knows how long that will last.

They are still under the Wizards Archives URL .... including Rule of the Games.

Indeed they are.  That's good.  Still, it will be a pain to find any specific one if the google results just lead you to a dead page...

It seems like WotC is doing yet another webpage revamp, since a lot of the 4e stuff has vanished too.  Hopefully they've only been temporarily taken down while the pages get rebuilt.
I'm not arguing, I'm explaining why I'm right.

I've seen some similar threads on other sites like GitP and EnWorld regarding this move by WotC.  I believe a number of conscientious folks are making sure everything on all those archived pages gets saved to the Wayback Machine.  So a good chunk of WotC's 3.0 and 3.5 articles pages should be accessible to us for a long time.  Especially since we really can't trust WotC to be generous in providing us access to their outdated information pages (which they probably hate players accessing since support of old versions aren't making them any $$$).

My biggest concern is all the terrific Forgotten Realms fluff content from 3.X.  There's some amazing lore by folks like Ed Greenwood, Eric L. Boyd and the like that I've been trying to copypasta as fast as I can.

There's a thread one board over, round here too.

Seems weird they'd can the Rules Of The Game too.

They've got the click data tracking ... why lose that?
I mean they could easily try advertising to me something
