equipping a pf oracle
« on: August 27, 2014, 09:03:19 PM »
I'm finishing up an Oracle, but am not that familiar with Pathfinder yet. The character link is below. The character is mostly a caster (gained a bunch of sorcerer spells known through an archetype), a"know-it-all" for out of combat utility (+26 on all Int skills 6x/day), with a decent Str so he can melee when the threats don't merit casting. Suggestions on items would be appreciated.

I don't pee messages into the snow often , but when I do , it's in Cyrillic with Fake Viagra.  Stay frosty my friends.

What sources are available?  And the bog standard suggestions from D&D certainly apply, Headband of Alluring Charisma if you cast offensive spells routinely, Cloak of Resistance, Ring of Protection, etc.  The oracle I play in my current campaign decided to invest in armor of fortification after two deaths to critical hits (I hate scythes).

Most likely not worth putting all your WBL on one of these right now, but you may find a use for them later on: Ring of Revelation and Soothsayer's Raiment.

Thanks. I'd forgotten that I also have another feat due to the faster acquisition rate in PF. I haven't really seen anything that stands out, so I'd appreciate suggestions for that as well.

I've sunk two feats into Extra Revelation, so I doubt I'll ever buy those items, Shiki (I don't really care much for most of the others in the Lore Mystery, and my acquisition rate is delayed due to my archetype anyway). But thanks for the suggestion. Maybe I'll use them if I wind up retraining these feats later.

I'll probably eventually get one of these just because they are crazy awesome. :D

I think this is very cool, also.

Edit: Later on, I might pick up Dazing Spell.

I'm tempted to get Power Attack now so I can pick up Cornugan Smash later. The thing holding me back is the fact that Intimidate isn't a class skill...

I guess I'll just go with Improved Initiative. The game is starting. :D

On the most part, the standard issue protective gear is the best (Cloak of Resistance, Belt/Headband of ability score boost, AC boost, etc.), and of course standard caster gear (wands, metamagic rods, staves, etc.).

A couple standouts that are more unique to PF:

Cracked/flawed Ioun Stones. There's a 500gp one that gives a +1 boost to initiative, and a few others that can be useful.

Also, don't forget to check out Ioun Stone resonances with Wayfinders. Most of them are just kinda flavorful. The Clear Spindle Ioun Stone (4000 gp; don't have to worry about food or water) can be set in a Wayfinder (500 gp; cast Light; woo) - individually neither are that special, together you have a constant immunity to possession and mind control, per the Protection from X spells.

Swarmbane clasp is a must for most melee characters, but as a caster you'll probably have better ways of handling swarms.
