Improved Combat Feats (Ranking Them)
« on: November 26, 2014, 01:06:57 PM »
Just curious how do you guys rank the "improved" combat feats in order of strength? I realize this is hard because depending on the build one feat could be strong or even useless. But if you had to sort them in general how would you rank them? Or even your top 5 if you don't feel like ranking them all.

Improved Bull Rush
Improved Critical
Improved Disarm
Improved Feint
Improved Grapple
Improved Initiative
Improved Overrun
Improved Shield Bash
Improved Sunder
Improved Trip
Improved Unarmed Strike
etc.

Top 5, when factoring in feat chains like Improved Bull Rush -> Shock Trooper:

Improved Initiative
Improved Bull Rush -> Shock Trooper (and knockback perhaps)
Improved Trip -> Knockdown
Improved Sunder -> Combat Brute
Improved Feint -> Surprising Riposte

One issue with a lot of these is they don't actually have the same theme despite having "improved" in the name.  Improved Bull Rush and Improved Shield Bash don't have any similar language or mechanics whatsoever, for example.  The feats are generally categorized into "improved combat maneuvers" and then "other improving feats."
