Help with Tournament
« on: November 17, 2014, 01:58:54 PM »
Yo, I'm about to participate in a D&D 3.5 tournament in my RPG club and I would like some advice.

Rules are the following:
-Starting xp: 105,500 (That's level 15, if you spend px somewhere during character creation you would start at lvl 14 instead)
-Ability scores to distribute: 20, 18, 18, 16, 13, 10.
-Money: 340,000gp
-Hit points: Maximum * 0.75
-Allowed handbooks: Core + Completes (no psionic).
-Obvious cheese and loops are forbidden.
-You are able to rest after every combat (always 1vs1 on different maps and conditions) and you are completly healed, but object's limited uses are not regained. You can also save some money to spend between combats.

So, ¿any great build ideas? I was thinking about focusing on protecting myself and abusing gate spell somehow. But anything is welcome.

Have fun.

Why loremaster? I mean, wouldn't straight wizard be strictly better?

Loremaster has UMD as a class skill. Your familiar uses your skill ranks.

More ideas along these lines, including tactics, etc.
Further development/discussion.

Are they not limiting charged/single-use items, other than standard WBL? If not... you should abuse the hell out of that. Scrolls of Gate/Time Stop/etc...

I don't pee messages into the snow often , but when I do , it's in Cyrillic with Fake Viagra.  Stay frosty my friends.

Hrm, warmage, rainbow servant is in those books, as is MotAO

What do they consider to be "obvious cheese"?  Not to start a flame war or anything but some people think Monk15 would be obviously cheesy.
The Emperor
Can you find the Wumpus?

Thank you for the links, I will revise them asap.

And yes, you're right, they don't limit single-use items to an amount nor a max price,  that's why I was talking about abusing gate in my first post.

Idk what they consider obvious cheese, before the tournament you have to send your character sheet to the judge and he has to approve it. There isn't a clearly defined criteria other than forbidding "cyclical improvement or anything that escapes reason".

Snuggle up with Lycanthromancer - at least as a start.  Modify things as needed to fit your build.
