QUOTES ARE CREDITED TO TAIOKO RIISPIRIT EATER "Broken. Broken, broken. That's what they called me. They meant it, too. I didn't believe them at first, but I could feel what they were referring to. I was incomplete. Like a heart missing its lover, a puzzle without a piece. And so my soul grew crooked, grew wrong. And it wanted to grow more. It had a thirst, a hunger. Almost consumed itself. Until I turned to others. Those who spurned me. And I used them to fill the space, to complete the puzzle, to make my soul whole again. Broken. Complete. Shattered, devoured whole. I'll break you, but you won't be broken in death. In death, you'll be a part of me." - Telor Magdelein, the Fallen Priest
Spirit-Eaters are warriors. Whether it's for survival, to permanently erase evil from existence, or for power. They fight. They turn the power of their own 'soul', or a beast within it, towards their enemies and consume parts of them.
MAKING A SPIRIT EATER Quick generalization of what you should focus on when making the class.
Abilities: Charisma is used to determine the saves of a spirit-eaters special abilities. Strength and constitution are good for helping deal damage and absorb damage, respectively. Intelligence can help with class skills, but is not essential. Dexterity is not necessary or combat exactly, but can help with armor class.
Races: Humans are the most common, simply by merit of being the most numerous race. Spirit -Eaters can occur in any race by the character being cursed or damaged, though monstrous or Evil races are the most likely to inflict it upon themselves to gain powerful warriors.
Outsiders are extremely unlikely to be Spirit Eaters, as their soul and body normally form one unit, and thus are capable of repairs, and it is almost impossible to replace an outsiders soul with something else. Still, there are rumors of such creatures.
Alignment: Any. Chaotic and evil alignments are the most common, as such creatures are the most likely to inflict this fate upon themselves for power or to be damaged accidentally, but any alignment can exist as a Spirit-Eater.

Weapon Proficiencies: Spirit Eaters are proficient with simple and martial weapons. They are proficient with light and medium armor, and shields (But not tower shields).
Put all the different class abilities in here!
Spirit Pool: Spirit Eaters gain a pool of spirit points. This pool starts full at game-start, but lowers by Spirit Eater level points per 24 hours. The pool is 5x Class Level points + (Unsure? Should that be it?)
The spirit Eater loses their class level in points from this pool every time they rest. If they do not need to rest (or simply choose not to) then they lose the same amount of points once every 24 hours, unless they are in some effect that stops them from aging.
Altered Essence; Warped Vessel(Ex): A Spirit Eater is a cursed creature, damaged on the deepest level. This reflects in a nubmer of ways. Their body is twisted, and serves as a direct conduit to their soul. Upon killing or destroying a viable creature (One that they can 'feed' upon) with a melee attack or with their Consume abilities they regain the creatures HD or CR (Whichever his higher) in points in their Spirit Pool. If this would place them above full points int heir Spirit Pool they recover 2x the excess points in HP.
A Spirit Eater can also eat Souls, or the things containing a Soul for the same benefit.
Spirit Eaters also gain other benefits ; largely it is that they do not need to eat or drink and do not age (They retain any bonuses or penalties from having aged before becoming a Spirit eater, but will not gain any after becoming one).
Other effects of being a cursed, damage creature, are also physical. The Spirit Eater gains a mark, that spreads over their body as they grow in power, that marks them as having something fundamentally 'wrong' with their soul. This can appear to be a glowing tattoo, 'cracks' leading nowhere in the creatures body, or any other such mark. This mark can begin anywhere on the body, and is initially easy to conceal with clothing. Seeing this mark allows one to make a DC 25 Knowledge(Arcana) check, or DC 20 Knowledge(Religion) check to be aware of the creatures unique state as a Spirit Eater.
Consume Spirit (Su): At second level Spirit Eaters gain the ability to forcibly rip away at and consume parts of enemy's essences. This functions as a touch attack dealing 1d6/2 class levels untyped damage, usable once every 1d4 rounds. If damage is dealt with this ability, the Spirit Eater restores one point tot heir Spirit Pool per dice of damage done.
If reduced to negative hit points (But not killed) by Consume Spirit, the target must make a will save or be killed. If the target is killed by Consume Spirit, the Spirit Eater gains points in their Spirit Pool equal to damage done plus the usual benefits for killing or destroying a viable creature. This overrides the base amount restored by the ability.
PLAYING A SPIRIT EATER Spirit-Eaters are, more than anything else, hungry. They need to feed on spirits to survive. This is, largely, an obstacle. But the source of this hungry grants boons. Many are monsters seeking just to feed, while others are controlled, precise living weapons, crusading for a cause and intent on making the best of a bad thing.
Religion:Spirit Eaters are, despite gaining no 'benefit' from it, often drawn to religion simply out of an interest in the thoughts that the gods may have on them, though many of them choose to avoid the gods simply because they are afraid to draw on further curses into their existence. Good Spirit Eaters often worship gods of mercy or forgiveness, hoping to atone for the sins they commit to survive. Evil Spirit Eaters frequently worship gods of war, destruction, or primal beasts who represent hunger. Any Spirit Eater may be drawn to death, curious as to the fate that awaits them after their own demise.
Other Classes: Paladins and Clerics are generally wary of Spirit Eaters, due to their corrupt nature and damaged souls. Fighters appreciate their combat effectiveness, Barbarians can enjoy the ferocity of some of them. Sorcerers relate to them, on some level, because their power comes from within. Wizards generally find Spirit Eaters fascinating, and a subject worth studying.
Combat: Spirit Eaters prefer to take any approach they can to dish out heavy damage in order to gain spirit points. They tactically use their consuming abilities to feed themselves and deal their heaviest damage, though try and do so wisely.
Advancement: This is a section on different options and paths that the class can go down when they advance in power.
SPIRIT EATERS IN THE WORLD "It was like fire. Seeing souls expunged like that, doused and devoured with such anger, such ferocity, is scarring enough. I fear for what goes on to the souls lost. If the spirit-eater that devoured them dies, will they at last find solace, find peace? I pray and pray! I pray that the gods would not be so lenient as to allow such a being into the fray of creation. For their tapestry should not be as this. It should not collapse in on itself, burning its own woven fabrics. They are wrong things." - Father Endel, the High Priest, after witnessing a lone spirit eater's ferocity against several of his servants.
A brief description of how your class is persevered in the world and how he interacts with the world.
Daily Life: Most days are spent traveling or, while in towns, hiding. Others are spent hunting, looking for a meal, planning to devour a certain soul or two. Largely, Spirit Eaters -plan-. They plan what they'll do, and say, and how they'll react to questions and what they'll do to feed.
Notables: Make up some cool information about notable figures in the history of your class. It's best to give a little information from one of the good alignment and evil alignment (unless it's a good or evil only class).
Organizations: Some information about organizations dedicated to the practice of your class and other organizations which members of your class will be attracted towards.
NPC Reaction "Spirit Eaters are monsters, even if they look human!" "They're poor, cursed souls who need to be saved or put down... and we don't know how to save them!" These are but a pair of quotes about spirit eaters, made by a commoner and a cleric respectively. Spirit Eaters are poorly received when it's known what they are, simply because of their nature. Commoners fear them, clergymen either pity them or are disgusted by them. This opinion may be swayed one way or another if the community has seen a Spirit Eater or heard tales of one before. Having met an Evil Spirit Eater a community will likely outright hate and fear them, while if they've met one who is Good they will more pity and respect them for the burden they face.
SPIRIT EATERS IN THE GAME This is a good place to provide a quick note on how your class will effect game play statistically.
Adaptation: Spirit Eaters can change from those with damaged souls to those with no souls, or with their souls replaced by soul-eating monsters easily enough.
Encounters: Evil Spirit Eaters are the most common ; the party may encounter one or more Spirit Eaters or their thralls who seek the 'flavorful' meal of powerful souls. Otherwise, they may find a Good Spirit Eater who is being persecuted due to his curse and seek to help him or end his misery.
