Nupperibo

HD: d8
LevelBABFortRefWillFeature
1 +1+2+2+2Pathetic, Prison of Flesh, Rage
2+2+3+3+3Fear aura, Mindless rage, Self-healing
3+3+3+3+3Growth, Learned your lesson
Class skills (2+Int): Balance, Climb, Intimidate, Jump, Swim

Proficiencies: A nupperibo is proficient with simple and martial weapons, but not with armor or shields.

Features:
Prison of Flesh: The nupperibo loses all other racial bonuses, and gains Outsider traits (darkvision 60ft). It is a Medium creature with the (baatezu), (lawful) and (evil) subtypes, and a speed of 20ft. It has immunity to fire, resistance to acid and cold equal to 5 per class level, and 2 claws as natural weapons dealing 1d4 damage + its Str modifier. Its natural armor bonus is equal to its Con modifier.
A nupperibo cannot gain levels in other classes, and members of other classes cannot multiclass into nupperibo even if they possess the Monster Hybrid feat.

Pathetic (Ex): A nupperibo cannot see, hear or speak (beyond incomprehensible mumbles). It takes a -4 penalty on initiative checks, a -2 penalty to all of its ability scores except Constitution, and automatically fails Listen checks. However, it gains blindsight out to 30ft as long as its sense of smell is not disrupted.

Rage (Ex): A nupperibo is constantly under the effects of barbarian rage, as a 1st-level barbarian. It cannot end this rage, even if subjected to calm emotions or a similar effect.

Fear Aura (Su): At 2nd level, at the end of the nupperibo's turn every enemy within 10ft must make a Will save (DC = 11 + your Cha modifier) or become panicked for 1 round. Baatezu are immune to this effect. A creature who succeeds on their saving throw against this effect is immune to it for 24 hours, but not to the Fear Aura of other nupperibos.

Mindless Rage (Ex): At 2nd level a nupperibo is immune to mind-affecting effects.

Self-Healing (Ex): At 2nd level a nupperibo can take an immediate action to regain 2 hit points per class level and cure itself of any poison.

Growth: At 3rd level a nupperibo increases in size by one category (to Large), increasing its space and reach as appropriate. Its natural weapons now deal 1d6 base damage. In addition its Strength and Constitution scores increase by +2 (this replaces the normal ability score adjustments for changing size), and its speed increases to 30ft.

Learned Your Lesson: At 3rd level a nupperibo's punishment has ended, and it may return to its original form at any time. This process takes 1 hour, after which the nupperibo's stats are permanently replaced by a new 3rd level character with levels in any other devil monster class.

Pathetic is hilarious.

What happens if the rage is artificially ended (due to Calm Emotions, etc.)?  When does it come back?  Or did I miss something that would make them immune to it being ended?

When A Nupperibo replaces its levels in another Devil Monster Class, how many things are reworked beyond class features and ability score bonuses?  Does it also lose its weapon and armor proficiencies and skill points.

A quite good take on the Lemure's cousin, but I would sugest reducing the panicked effect of the fear aura to just 1 round. Your party will already be immune since you can scare them at the start of the day, but then enemies that fail their will saves are out of combat for 5 rounds, which is kinda too much for a 2nd level ability even taking in account the Nupperibo penalties.

This is also needed in the Lemure class. Even with that, I think Regeneration 1 and all the other things it gets are too good for a 1st level character. This one seems significantly more balanced, what with being blind and deaf...

I think you still might even drop the Blindsight, and given them a slightly improved Scent ability instead. Let them pinpoint creatures as a swift action, but still suffer the 50% miss chance, and maybe increase the range to 60 feet. They'd also have to weigh using this ability vs. their need to use their healing, since the action types overlap. :D

It's already done in another way. The lemure must replace its lemure level as soon as it gains enough exp to level up, so even if you multiclass into it, it will only last for a while.

EDIT: As for power level comparison, notice the Nupperibo gets martial proficiencies, actual class skills and what basically amounts to +2 Str, +4 Con in return for dumping mental stats. Being blind and deaf is weightened out by blindsight, which is actually an advantage in some ways (lure? What lure? I can sense those dudes in ambush and can't be cheated by any fake sounds or images!). The only thing the lemure can do viably in combat is claw away for 2x 1d4+Str mod and taking punishment.

The problem here is that Lemure keeps being promoted once it has all levels of the devil class he chose. Here it just... well, I understand Nuppreibo learned his lesson, but he should be able to keep progressing, like demon can, into next ranks... no?

You're technically right, but realistically every Devil would want to promote itself that way until they're all Pit Fiends. In terms of mechanics, I would think it is better to let the whole promotion idea be the Lemure's thing.

But all Devils are already trying to become Pit Fiends. That is their main goal, but just as there are not a lot of level 18 characters in the world, not many succeeded.

And demons can't become Devils. Pit Fiend Equivalent for Demons is Balor. Nupperibo can have levels in Balor as soon as it learns it lesson, with how mechanics currently are. Unlike Lemur, it doesn't have to go up in hierarchy, it can already on level 3 have levels of Balor
