Craft poisen/alchemy usage in campaign
« on: February 24, 2012, 05:18:24 AM »
Greetings misses and sirs,

For a campaign I'm about to run, I've had a interesting question from a player considering poisen.
He basically wants to use his alchemy skill to craft poisens (not potions)

So far, after searching these forums and the interwebs, I can only find few things about this, mostly basic information:
http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Poisons
-edit- Oh found this just now : http://www.scribd.com/Orpheus%20Think%20Tank%20Repairman/d/3505567-Craft-chart-Alchemy-itemsPoisons-a-35-quick-reference-guide
last page

But how does one create poisens.. I can't seem to find DC's. Are there other variations of poisen (direct damage?) Does anyone have any suggestions where to look?
I could imagine you could create higher DC poisens when you have a higher alchemy for example..

Well a good thing I thought Pathfinder allowed was to craft poison using the alchemy checks. I mean, it stops the ridiculous idea of having more skills than you could afford to be good at it. One of my problems with 3.5 was with those skills...

About those DCs... well on your D&D wiki link there are most of the DCs on the second column, no?
And I thinks it's pretty much up to you. You could always give him synergy bonuses if he has those 2 craft skills, or you could agree to let him do stuff with alchemy, but I must point out that on the Wiki you sent they categorize poison as "Alchemical" so....  :P

Well those are fort saves DC's... Not the DC's to craft 'em ;)

More wondering about, are there any more books about it... Crafting requirements, materials and that sort of stuff..

For example I can imagine a alchemist with a skillcheck roll of 25 creating a better (more concentrated) poisen of the same type thena  alchemist who rolled a 15 (the default DC)..

I think Dungeonscape has a big ol' list of poisons and their DCs

also: Poison Handbook
Something inside me dies when I see the word fallacy applied to ideas held about roleplaying. And a small bit of vomit comes up when I see a character called a 'toon'.

If I remember correctly, you can use craft: alchemy, but at a -4 penalty.
