Describe a setting in 10 words or less
« on: March 04, 2012, 10:17:52 PM »
Based off of the "5 worst words a Dungeon Master could say."

Try and describe the various D&D campaign settings in five words or less.

I'll start.

Greyhawk: Classic Gygaxian fantasy, containing D&D's most notable icons and dungeons.

Forgotten Realms: High power, magic permeates the world, most detailed setting.

Ravenloft: Gothic horror and tragic villains, power comes with a price.

Dark Sun: Post-apocalyptic fantasy, dragon kings and wastelands and psionic monsters.  Brutal.

Dragonlance: Epic save the world fantasy, put the Dragons in D&D.

Birthright: PCs rule nations, are scions of a divine bloodline.

Eberron: Techno magic dungeon punk, pulp action and adventure.

Planescape: Adventure in heaven and hell, ideologies can shape reality.

Iron Kingdoms: Armored mages controlling war golems, steampunk gadgets and magic.

Spelljammer: Dungeons & Dragons in space, hippo people and giant hamsters.

Midnight: Lord of the Rings, except Sauron has won.

Monte Cook's Ptolus: City by a spire, full of dungeons and adventure.

Scarred Lands: Sword & Sorcery, like ancient Greece, wild lands outnumber civilization.

Urban Arcana: D&D characters injected into the real world.  Gun-toting drow punks.

DragonMech: PCs fight giant dragons in fantasy mecha!  Full of win!

Ghostwalk: PCs can play as ghosts, new spin on PC death!

Forgotten Realms: Everybody loves Drow!  Sexy sorceress queens and goddesses!

Iron Kingdoms: Guns!  You wear armored coats on your armor!

Eberron: Warforged are made of win.  Also, see halflings riding dinosaurs.

Dark Sun: Where every wastelander's a 3rd level fighter.

Dark Sun: "So you say you wish you could play Dune?"

Also, where the heck is this DragonMech? That sounds amazing.

DragonMech is a 3rd Edition D&D setting published by White Wolf under the Sword & Sorcery label.  It's current owner is Goodman Games.

Main book at Drive-Thru RPG

I heard that one of their adventures (I forget which) is a great introduction to the mecha.  It starts off as a post-apocalyptic dungeon crawl, hack-and-slash.  The treasure room at the end of the dungeon is a massive chamber with a big mecha.  By the time the PCs reach the room, giant Moon Dragons land nearby outside and start tearing the dungeon apart.  The PCs only hope of survival is to reactivate the mecha and fight back!

Play this music upon the mecha's activation as it comes to life.
