Charging on a mount - You can both attack on a charge?
« on: March 10, 2012, 01:26:38 PM »
Assuming you make the DC 10 Ride check, if you charge, you and your mount get to attack at the end of the charge, correct?

Specifically, I'm looking at the Powerful charge feat of the megaloceros and the Wild Hunter using Spirited Charge from expedition to the demonweb pits (errata stats here).

So, the Wild Hunter makes his ride check, charges with his mount, the Wild Hunter gets to deal double damage with either his ranseur* or his great axe, and the megalocerous gores, adding +2d6 damage for powerful charge, and gets to start a grapple as a free action, and if he wins the grapple check, he immediately get to try to toss the creature? (effectively a bull rush attempt).  They get to do all this in one round?

*Due to Ride-by Attack, when using the ranseur, the wild hunter would attack, then continue charging, pulling the megalocerous' gore attack in range of the same opponent.

That's the way we've always played it.  But then, we don't do much with mounts, so it's quite possible we've been doing it wrong.

That's how the rules say it works, at the very least.
