They've got an open playtest now? How's it look?

No idea... my link to download may be broken, or their server may just be overloaded, but I haven't been able to download yet.

Like everyone else, I'm still trying to download it. If I can get it and read through, I'd be up for being included in some capacity. We'll see. I'm notoriously bad at updating as a DM, though this might end up being easy to run, so who knows. That reminds me... gotta update my games.  :P

Hell if I can get time to DM another campaign, even if with everything pre-generated. But I've posted some first impressions here for those of you who still didn't get the download.

I'm pretty sure it's stated in the playtest agreement that it's illegal to run a play-by-post of 5E (not that I read the agreement, because my computer literally won't let me, but I read that play-by-post is a no-no on GitP).

I think the rules state that all participants, DM and players, have to sign up for the confidentiality agreement before playing. Having a private forum should circumvent the problem, shouldn't it?

No, actually Zieg is right.  On the FAQ:

Can I run an online game via email, Skype, Google Hangout or a play-by-post forum?

No, you may not run an online game on third parties sites at this time.

Well, dang! Maybe next round of playtests. Probably worth the wait anyway.

From what I'm seeing there's next to nothing there to playtest anyway. What we have will play like an inferior D&D 3.5 with really wonky houserules. Ability scores as saves sounded like an interesting idea. The implementation is an atrocity. I'm seeing another case of, "our game only functions if you buy and run exclusively pregenerated adventures. if you want to run your own adventures in your own play setting, then you will have to houserule the shit out of everything because our game is broken all to hell and we don't give a shit."

Maybe I'm just in a shitty mood today...

I think it might be the latter, since I'm not really getting that vibe, personally. To each his own, though.

Just keep in mind that this is really pared down, and nowhere near complete. If anything, you should fill out the imminent survey with your thoughts on what works and what doesn't, and hope enough people agree for them to make the necessary changes. Or, just keep playing older editions. *shrug*

Yes, get back to Hunter's Moon! :P
