Troll-Blooded's Short Coming
« on: April 07, 2012, 04:51:14 AM »
How do you get around the troll-blooded feat's "fatigued when exposed to sunlight" aspect? Yeah you get Regen 1, but what good is that to you when you're constantly at -1 to Str and Dex except at night?
I reject your reality and substitute my own.

Some options:

1. Adventure only at night.
2. Carry around an item of No Light (BoVD) and activate it when you need to get rid of the penalty.
3. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burqa

That said, Troll-Blooded is rarely used outside of builds that use it to gain immunity to damage altogether, in which case the penalty becomes kind of trivial by comparison.

Or you can become immune to fatigue and not worry about it.

Custom made item of Cloak of Dark Power to never be in sunlight (also great for HiPS).

Liquid Night: It's not just for vampires anymore. :P (It's an alchemical item from Libris Mortis). Deeper Darkness is only 3rd level and lasts for days, also. So get/bribe/charm a cleric to hit you up with one of those every few days (and a way to ignore the 20% miss chance from it), and you're set.
I don't pee messages into the snow often , but when I do , it's in Cyrillic with Fake Viagra.  Stay frosty my friends.

Everything is edible. Just that there are things only edible once per lifetime.
It's a god-eat-god world.

And to the mercies of a moment leaves; The vast concerns of an eternal scene.

Or purchase an eternal wand of it. Lasts less time, but whatever. 2/day.

3.5 is disappointingly flawed.

Of a cleric spell?
"Whoops, forgot to roll my fire and holy damage."
"I doubt she's going to make a DC 111 Fort save, anyway."

I'm sure you could find a way. Isn't there a naga that casts cleric spells as a wizard or something?

I use Troll-blooded to make some minor trolls out of Tanarukk (Monsters of Faerun). They have 5 HD to start with; a level of Scout gives them the skill points they need to qualify for Horizon Walker.  One level of that makes them immune to fatigue.  It's a good way to differentiate adolescents from adults.
