Better Spontaneous Healing
« on: July 28, 2012, 01:18:10 AM »
I've been poking around at how to improve a good cleric's spontaneous casting while still keeping the original flavor.  Here's what I've come up with so far.

This isn't for anything in particular, though when I was picking spells for the custom healing domain I was envisioning an NPC who spends all his time in a temple, tending to the sick.

Don't forget the feats Augment Healing and Sacred Healing.  The first gives you +2 HP per spell level healed to all spells with the healing subschool (lesser restoration also heals 4 hp?  Couldn't hurt!), while the second lets you use your turn attempts to give fast healing to all living creatures within 60' for a few rounds.
What do I win?
An awesome-five for mentioning Penny Arcade's On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness.

There's also Sacred Healing from the PHB 2: Expend a turn attempt and get +5 to heal checks and +2hp per die of damage healed; and sacred boost from complete divine that expends a turn attempt to maximize healing spells for a round.

Spurn Death's Touch (Libris Mortis) is another expend a turn attempt feat-it allows you to heal 1d4 ability damage, a negative level or a paralysis effect with the caveat that the effects must have been caused by an undead creature.

I wouldn't always have to be right if so many people didn't insist on always being wrong.

Amulet of Retributive Healing (MIC-69) heals you the same amount you heal someone else.

Ring of Mystic Healing (MIC-126) gives a +1 competance bonus to CL when casting cure spells.  Also has charges/day to increase the amount healed.

There's a teamwork benefit that gives the team a "pool" that a spell can be cast into, then each member can cast it.  So you could turn the whole team into healers.

Imbued Healing (CC-60) is a feat that everytime you cast a cure spell, you add another benefit based on your cleric domains.

Mitigate Suffering (CC-61) is a RESERVE feat that lets you give temp bonuses to an ability score if you have a spell that cures ability damage.  Nice synergy with the Divine Restoration ACF you have in your spoiler.  Though you may need need to clear it with your DM whether spontaneous casting covers "spell available to cast".

I've noticed that, by switching from arctic priest to priest of the waste and taking heretic of the faith, I can work in initiate of Lathander.

These are just musings, so there aren't really any restrictions.  I can access most non-3rd-party material.

There is a feat somewhere, mastery of day and night I think... Afb at the moment but I am sure I looked at it for a healing cleric at some point

Are you thinking of wizard of sun and moon (Dungeonscape, p14)?

Definitely mastery of day and night, Players guide to ebberon. Automatically maximises all inflict/cure spells you cast.

Edit: Found it finally for a full quote:
Quote
Mastery of Day and Night
( Player's Guide to Eberron, p. 125)

You have learned to calculate the precise locations of Irian and Mabar at any given time, and to use that knowledge to enhance your manipulation of positive and negative energy.

Prerequisite
Maximize Spell (PH) , Knowledge (the planes) 2 ranks, Spellcraft 6 ranks,

Benefit
You can spontaneously apply the effect of the Maximize Spell metamagic feat to any cure or inflict spell you cast. Doing this has no effect on the spell's level or casting time.

Spontaneous healing?  The Benevolent Cleric variant from Dragon 311 can spontaneously cast Heal in addition to plenty of other nice spells.  It loses Turn Undead, but that can be remedied with Sacred Exorcist as usual.

Its what RSoP wishes it could be. Man, I hate that PrC! Ever since it conned me out of my were-bear care-bear...
