Humanoid Shape and Warshaper
« on: August 10, 2012, 03:24:41 AM »
Does the Humanoid Shape lesser draconic invocation allow a Dragonfire Adept to qualify for the Warshaper PrC?
The exact text of Humanoid Shape reads:  "You can assume any humanoid form, as the change shape special ability (MM 306)."
The requirements of the Warshaper class are:  "Change Shape supernatural ability (aranea, hound archon, barghest, doppelganger, rakshasa, slaad)"

Normally, an invocation is a Spell-Like ability (not a Supernatural one, as Warshaper requires).  But since Humanoid Shape directs you to the Change Shape ability (which is a Supernatural ability), would it qualify?
I'm not arguing, I'm explaining why I'm right.

Humanoid shape is a spell-like ability that mimics a supernatural ability.

RAW I do not think it does qualify for Warshaper, since it does not meet the (Su) requirement.  So you can either take the Supernatural Transformation feat from Savage Species to change it from (Sp) to (Su), or you can just ask your DM very nicely to let it work.  According to the Sage / FAQ, the feat does not work on spell-like abilities gained from classes because they are not "innate", but who cares what he says...  :P
