[3.P] Opposite to the TWF chain?
« on: November 04, 2012, 01:51:21 AM »
My homebrew class gives the TWF chain - TWF at 1st level, ITWF at 6th, GTWF at 11th.
I'm going to make it an option to choose between TWF and OHF THF. So, what feats or feat chain would you consider to be quasi-One Two-Handed Fighting?

Magic is for weaklings.

Alucard: "*snif snif* Huh? Suddenly it reeks of hypocrisy in here. Oh, if it isn't the Catholic Church. And what's this? No little Timmy glued to your crotch. Progress!"

Improved Shield Bash, Shield Specialization, Agile Shield Fighter?
What do I win?
An awesome-five for mentioning Penny Arcade's On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness.

How is that a One Two-Handed Fighting feat chain?

The only specifically one-handed feat I know of is Einhander, and it's a bit crappy really.

Derp. I meant Two-Handed, not One-Handed.  :blush

Power Attack, Improved Bull Rush, Shock Trooper, etc.  Yes, it's part of the cookie cutter ubercharger stuff, but that's because it works.

For unarmed "THF" there's the Hammer Fist feat if you feel like it could serve as a basis for houseruling.  If you're not considering houserules then it means nothing of course.

Shock Trooper is little too good. Power Attack I was considering myself. IBR is an interesting idea.

Well, IBR was mostly there as a prereq for Shock Trooper.  Combat Brute might be more in line, even if sundering isn't on the table.  The two-handed "Strong Arm" style for Rangers in Dragon 326 has Power Attack at 2nd, Improved Sunder at 6th, and Great Cleave at 11th.

Improved Trip into Knockdown might work.

If it weren't for most characters being medium without powerful build I'd suggest knockback, but it requires large or PB.

I think I'm gonna go with Power Attack, Improved Sunder and Combat Brute.
