Anyone know of some good instant (yet 'permanent') or permanent spells that I can use a free wish for outside of the PHB?

Aren't you the one with the huge spell database?

There are those spells in Frostburn and Sandstorm that give you the cold or fire subtypes.  Cold is especially nice to pair up with Algid Enhancement of course.

And Savage Species has a couple, such as Awaken Construct, Vile Undeath, etc.

yeah... but then i'd have to search my 82 documents by 'duration instantaneous' or 'duration permanent' and it'd come up with EVERYTHING.

i was curious if people had suggestions

Isn't there a spell in Complete Divine that turns you into a lycanthrope?  If you didn't have to gain the LA as well, might be kind of fun.

*grins* true... some ugly tricks with that combo. too bad it was updated in Spell Compendium (Curse of Lycanthropy)

In the Spellbook Handbook I standardized all the duration entries.

For example, If you file search that PDF for "Duration: 10 minutes/level", you'll get every one with 10/minutes a level. Make sure to include the ':'
