I'm having some trouble figuring out my equipment. Other than a few necessities, there's not much else I really think I need. Not that I can afford right now that is.

I had the same problem. I ended up solving it by going over and over the Shax thread and taking everything that seemed even remotely relevant and reasonable and justifying with "he's a dragon with a somewhat compulsive personality who has been preparing for this trip for some time" but that doesn't really work for you.

I wonder if Arias would be ok with you taking a +1 Lamen for basically all your starting cash (maybe all save like 50gp)? It's actually a bit more expensive than that but it really wouldn't break anything and it would solve your gear buying issues.

Well, with recent developments that total cost for a +1 is 3000, or 500 for the base component and 2500 for the enhancement. If I'm able to craft that base component myself, it brings the total cost down to 2666.667gp which is just under the limit. *shrug*
