Mistborn RPG: Anyone played it?
« on: December 21, 2011, 02:23:29 PM »
I loved the Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson, and the RPG by Crafty Games is now out.  Anyone taken a look?  What do you think?

Heard of it, but nobody I know got their hands on it yet.
Everything is edible. Just that there are things only edible once per lifetime.
It's a god-eat-god world.

Procrastination is the thief of time; Year after year it steals, till all are fled,
And to the mercies of a moment leaves; The vast concerns of an eternal scene.

I got a copy last night, but haven't had the chance to look it over yet.  I doubt I will until after the new year, unfortunately.
The DM giveth and the rogue taketh away.
I have a 5 in Charisma and Diplomacy is a cross-class skill.  Hopefully I don't piss off too many people.

Care to summarize it if you do?

I'll give it a go, but my summarization skills leave much to be desired.

I love Sanderson's books, he's a brilliant author.
I wouldn't mind giving the game a shot, but I need to actually read the rules first.
Hopefully I'll get my hands on it one day.

I just bought this at DundraCon this year :-D They had an offer where you could get a digital (indexed searchable etc) edition for $5 if you buy a physical copy. I hope other companies start doing that.

I'm reading it now, and it looks like all the best parts of Exalted (drama dice, top down character design) without the terrible parts (Badly formatted rulebook, interparty imbalance). I'm just getting into it though, so I'll need more time to really dig into it. If anyone wants to PLAY such a creature, I'd be willing to let people look through mine on a trial basis (I'll share my screen and give control over my mouse. No legal issues there right?)

EDIT: After looking at the system a little more, I've concluded that my previous inclination is accurate. It's a whitewolf system without whitewolf's baggage. I'll add more info when I find people to play it with (They made a point of making it Play-By-Post friendly, so this shouldn't be too hard)

I'll PbP it with you... if I can get a copy of the rules.

I will make arrangements to have the rules available to PbP members on a limited basis. Please try to procure your own personal copy if possible.

Any other takers?
