Level 8 Builds
« on: March 09, 2013, 11:55:17 PM »
Are there any builds that really mature at/around level 8. I checked out the Low Level Builds Compendium but didn't see anything I found interesting at that level. Most bases in the party are covered, so I can goof around. No non-hardbacks allowed (no web or magazines). Stats are 93 whopping points (minimum of 9), normal WBL, Faerun setting, Underdark campaign.

Stats are 93 whopping points

You mean if you totaled your scores, correct? Not point-buy?
Optimization Showcase Index. There, a lot of builds. And yes, some of them mature around level 8. Heck, that index even has a "when does it mature" section in its table.

I love Inevitable Nightmare, but I doubt you'd be allowed to play warforged in FR. Not that the build requires WF, but it does help.

I might do a silly Martial Spirit, Therapeutic Mantle, Bloodstone, Vampiric, Crystal of Lifedrinking Crusader/Kensai build. Still toying with stuff. I have a glaivelock build stored away I might dust off, as well.

93 points 1:1 ratio minimum of 9. You end up with FOUR 18's!

There's the old, early entry Master of Shrouds, :bigeyes

Wasn't pan pan a level 8 psion in the beginning?
Edit; nope, 12th

Binder, Ardent, (psionic variant)Anima Mage could be fun...

factotum 8

Druid5, Planar Shepherd3

I think there was a build somewhere that managed FoP and thrallherd by 8th...

Dread Necromancer8

Factotum stands out the most.  Level 8 is the defining level of the class.

Sadly the group doesn't own Dungeonscape. Very sad because for this game they are in Underdark (a permanent dungeon). Actually the blaster Mage threads have inspired me. I'm just not sure how. Thinking about something combining Entangling Exhalation so I can do stuff when I don't feel like casting spells. The group got mad at me in another campaign when I refused to cast any spells for the first three rounds of combat against mooks.

    • The additional vestige collection for all you Binder players out there.

Binders really begin to come into their own at 8th level and above, once they can bind 2 vestiges at once.
Also, as mentioned before, Dread Necromancer's shtick starts at 8th level.
I'm also going to be "That Guy" who say straight druid.
At 8th level; you gain access to Large size for Wild Shape, have 3 wildshapes per day, got 4th level spells...

Actually the blaster Mage threads have inspired me.

In that case, I am going to again suggest something from the Showcase, The Nuker. Books needed are Complete Arcane, Complete Mage, and Complete Adventurer.
