Turn Undead Class fature on non-casting class
« on: March 29, 2013, 08:06:38 PM »
Is there any classes that provide Turn Undead which do not grant spellcasting (or for that matter no vestiges or other spellcasting like abilites, except for psionics perhaps)?
Preferably as low a level as possible. No Spellcasting Paladin and Divine Mind are not an option.
Dragon Magazine allowed, as are some 3rd party and PF.

Well, looking at the lists of stuff thread http://brilliantgameologists.com/boards/index.php?topic=2546.0 it would appear that there isn't any non-casting class with turn undead.

How about an item instead?
Multiclass
Shroudcrown (PGtF): Gain Turn Undead as a 10th level Cleric.

There's a Paladin variant in Complete Warrior that doesn't gain casting. Says nothing about losing Turn Undead so it keeps it. The variant sucks but 4 levels and multiclass will get you turning on a class without casting.

Care to tell us why you want this? Might help with suggestions.

Need to qualify for Vindicator.
DM limits characters to one 'power source'. Character is an Ardent.
I have 2 levels to spare, but would prefer level 1 so I could fit a level of Warblade in for Iron Heart Surge.

Character is a level 30 Babau btw, going Racial HD 7/ Ardent 11/ Anarchic Initiate 2/ xxx 2/ Crusader 1/ Vindicator 7

Do you mean Ruby Knight Vindicator? If so, please say so. I've been googling "vindicator" as a d&d PrC for the last 10 minutes and haven't found anything.

You're not going to get Turn Undead in one or two levels without casting. At least not without homebrew (and not with homebrew that I know of.)

Best you can hope for is to have Cha 10 or less, go Dread Necromancer1 and try to convince your DM that since you can't actually cast DN spells it doesn't count as a "power source."

Yes RKV, I know of no other class refereed to as Vindicator.

Actually I just found a method I believe.
Taking God-Touched and Divine Channeler feats  from Dragon#305 lets you Turn/Rebuke 1/day.

Then you should do that.

As for other Vindicators, there's this, this, and this, which is why you should always post the full name of the class you're talking about (preferably the book as well) even if you don't think there's another class by that name. The internet is a big place.

Dragon 310 has the Holy Monk variant that gets turn undead as a paladin.

Do you have access to custom items? If so, then a command word item of Bone Talisman (or a Wand + UMD) will get you turns.  As will binding Tenebrous.

Ithamar's suggestion would work with Tashalatora
on all that manifesting you've got, and might dovetail
with the Babau part too.

The Holy Monk suggestion is also interesting.
I don't personally like qualifying for stuff with items as some of my DMs could get a bit riled up from it.

However the character has been scrapped, do to my DM saying my 'character' can only have one power source, and this was going to be a cohort of sorts and was considered apart of my 'character'. Meh, w/e.

divine mind gets turn undead as an ACF, iirc.

that would narrow it down to "one power source", ie: psionics.
