Swiftblade 9's
« on: May 20, 2013, 10:18:29 PM »
With the Swiftblade prestige class (found at http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/prc/20070327 ), is there any way to get 9th-level spells, and all ten levels of the class, at or before level 20?

Some sort of Sublime Chord twist might work, were it not for the skill requirements.  The only way to get 9's with Swiftblade is to get a fast progression class like the SC.

So Sublime Chord, Ur-Priest... are there any others?

Any other method someone can think of? Are there no other ways to get +spell levels without taking levels in such a class?

Beholder Mage is the only Arcane fast progression class I know of other than Sublime Chord.
I'm not arguing, I'm explaining why I'm right.

If you can decipher it, the Darklight Wizard from the Kingdoms of Kalamar Villain Design Handbook would work.

EDIT: I think, anyway. I still can't make heads-or-tails of the damn thing.

I keep feeling like I heard about something... maybe in the Theurge handbook, I'll go look.

Hm. Can't find it. Can anyone think of what I'm talking about? Could've sworn it was an affiliation benefit, intended for theurges, gave +3 levels of casting to one class and +1 level to another class?

You can do it with Dark Sun's Shadow Templar

Templar 1 / X 4 / Shadow Templar 3 (3/3) / Swiftblade 10 (6/10) / X 2
Feats: Great Fortitude, Dodge, Mobility
Skills: Knowledge (the planes) 2 ranks, Spellcraft 8 ranks, Concentration 6 ranks
9/10 Shadow Templar spellcasting advancement will get you 9th level spells with bonus spells from intelligence

There are perhaps more creative options to have haste earlier and/or to PrC earlier than taking 3 levels of Shadow Templar.
