I hate driving. No panic attacks or issues or anything, just... all the drivers in this town seem to be assholes to the noob.

Tell me about it. That is the one reason I don't want to get my license: The drivers here SUCK.

Ha! Just minutes ago I was getting tailgated by someone who was visibly upset and screaming in her car. She passed me in a turning lane and proceeded to tailgate the person in front of me. The end result: we got to the same parking lot ten seconds apart.

If I were more confrontational, it would have been fun to walk up to her car and congratulate her, since I saw where she parked.  :smirk

I hate my fucking job. I'm so glad next Friday is my last day here. Getting yelled at for not filling out a form I have never seen or heard of before, having it implied they would fire me (thus negating my severance package) over documenting some things that I'm just now being asked to handle for that afternoon is not cool, wanting me to price selling and replacing all of your old computers and printers is a waste of time (we all know you either won't or couldn't sell them because they are mostly crap), and I'm an IT guy not a damned packer let the moving company find boxes for your shit.

I don't even have another job lined up right now, but I'm still not going to accept an offer to stay longer to help with  your move. (I'm not a total dipshit I do have money to live off of for months right now so I know my family will be taken care of until I do get more work)

I recall one time when I drove with a professional teacher. A guy behind me got mad because I did not stop and let him pass, when he was the one who was required to stop. He honks his horn at me and my teacher turns around and goes  :fu on him. Good times

My rants
1. Donated blood today, first needle didn't hit properly and they had to leave my right arm and go for the other one. This try succeeded but now both my arms hurt when I fold them.
2. Why is it so friggin' warm? Where are my -25 C?!
3. Yes, there was a time in my life when I considered suicide. Yes, I got over it many years ago. I appreciate the concern, dear Someone who gathers research data. But although I've never sought professional help to talk about it, there is no need to pester me with the opportunity, although it's free. I'm fine, thank you
I'm what's staring back from the abyss.
How come you guys never wave?

Please send me a PM if you give me kudos. I'm interested in what I'm doing right.

I agree.

And to answer your question, DonQuixote...

I got my rejection letter from Swarthmore earlier this month. Suffice to say, this December is not my favorite.

So it turns out I either got food poisoning or some sort of stomach flu. I have been vomiting with diarrhea between bouts of trying to sleep with weird fever dreams. I can finally drink water again, but not eating has meant my electrolytes very low. My dad finally went to get some Gatorade, and it was like the kiss of life.

Screw this day.  :puke

I found keeping a liter of isotonic drink around just for those situations is dead handy.

Its surprising how much you can fix with just diluted isotonic drinks, bed rest and easy to digest food.

A few years ago, when my whole family got hit by something like that at the same time, we started keeping chicken soup, saltines, and 7-up on hand, too.

My computer is off getting a new hard drive (I'm using an alternate right now)... and while I've backed everything up, my time machine hard drive is 2 hours away.

I caught a virus on my computer from a site I have trusted for months (the Dark Souls Wikidot Wiki), and now Malewarebytes Anti-Malware can't open, and I can't connect to the Internet with that computer. I have to use my mom's computer to get consumer support...

Why has this week sucked for me? It's Christmas!!

Luckily I'm Canadian, so I'm not expected to be a font of pop culture knowledge.  Plus practically everyone I know knows I'm a gamer geek, so...

I'll drink (eggnog+) to that ...  :cheers

One of the most common sayings in my house is "I hate computers."  This mostly comes from my dad since he's had nearly thirty years working with them, although nowadays more of his issues are due to the incompetence of the college he works for.  I'm not sure of his latest problems, but mine is this little (little my ass!) laptop I got for high school graduation.

It all started with a BSOD on bootup saying it found an error and I'd have to restart.  These usually aren't bad since reboots can fix a lot of problems, but this one wouldn't let me start the system at all and eventually led to the HD not even spinning up while the caps lock blinked a few times before the system shut down.  I used another computer to look at Dell's complaints and found the issue was with my RAM.  I cleaned it, and it worked for a few days.  Then I figured I had to switch the RAM sticks.  Again, worked for a few days.  Then I had to buy new RAM.  That managed to work for a couple weeks.  Then I had to physically remove one of the sticks its socket was bad, leaving me with only 1 gig of RAM.  Suffice to say, I find it annoying when the system entirely shuts down instead of working with what's available and just telling me "Can't access RAM in slot 1.  The slot or the RAM might be bad. Have a nice day."

So much for small rants eh?

Next computer problem comes up, and this time it's far more frustrating.  I boot up one time and notice odd pixels like what happens when a video game glitches out.  I give the computer a light bump and it goes back to normal.  This issue quickly devolved into the screen freezing and then all sorts of crap going on.  Random blotches of color here, interlace effects there, entire portion of whiteness up here, and such crap.  The only time it managed to BSOD it said the video card or its driver had an error that allowed it to run in an infinite loop.  Smacking the computer a few times would usually get it back to normal, but it's a pain when it glitches out during a game or while writing a post for example.  I reinstalled the OS and the driver, but that didn't work.  I cleaned the video card, but the first couple times didn't work.  This last time finally did, but I still have artifacts on the screen sometimes.  Ebay, thank you for still having spare parts for this thing.

If smacking it helps then its probably a loose connector or dust choking something.
