[3.5]Spontaneous Archivist?
« on: July 24, 2013, 11:47:51 PM »
There are plenty of tricks and methods to get (partial) spontaneous casting onto a Wizard (Alacritous Cogitation, Uncanny Forethought, Proteus, Spontaneous Divination etc.). How about the Archivist?

The easy answer is play a Favoured Soul, Mystic or Generic Spellcaster instead, but I really like the chassis of the Archivist, and it's potential to learn the vast majority of spells from all class lists.

Spontaneous Healer and Spontaneous Summoner come to mind, but are very limited.

Cheers - T

If this is for a real game, definitely ask your DM about modifying those Wizard feats to be compatible with Archivist.  There's really no reason why he shouldn't allow them on an Archivist, if he's willing to allow them on a Wizard - that being said, those are some pretty powerful feats and might not be appropriate for every game, especially since Archivists can get access to almost every spell ever printed.
I'm not arguing, I'm explaining why I'm right.

Proteus works with archivist.

Dipping Wizard for one level does allow uncanny forethought to work.  Very inelegant though.

edit: there is always Hathran + Acorn of Far Travel. :)

I seem to recall there was a way for a wizard to give up a familiar to have his spellbook in his head. Not sure exactly how that could help.
If you have questions about 3.5 D&D, you might want to look at the:
