My group has been having issues finding a time for all 6 of us to get together, so last week we decided to make a side game that we can run without everyone there. And thus, the Dwarven Giant Hunters were formed. Well, only one was actually formed then, the rest of us just got character sheets. Our concept is set in Faerun, and with a limit that if the LA of the race/template is more than 1 you start with no class levels, and must be a race that is either Dwarf or has a bonus of some type against giants. Flaws are ok, and one trait. Books aren't restricted, other than we are set in Faerun, but we can not select a caster class. This isn't going to be a high op campaign, more of a fun way to get together and blow some time. We'll be starting at ECL1 too.
I should elaborate on the caster class limiter... Classes like ranger and paladin are ok, it's pretty much just a low magic adventure, but based around hunting and killing giants.
In my DDO time, I have come to like the SaB style, but have never made one in PnP. So, without a focus on CO, I was looking at being a Dream Dwarf Fighter to start with. I have gone over the
SaB Handbook and think that the bulldozer sounds fun.
For theme's sake what classes, prestige and base, require you to be a dwarf? I know about the ones from RoS, and was thinking of the Battlesmith as soon as it's available, since it will be a low-magic setting.
As far as gear, I would like to see if a Variable Shield/Sizing Dwarven Waraxe plays out like I think it could. Swap the shield to a buckler and the Waraxe up a size to 2hand PA when I'm not the focus of attacks sounds like fun.
So, any thoughts?
