Proposed Handbook: Magnificent Mundanity
« on: October 18, 2013, 07:52:03 PM »
The idea behind this handbook is digging out the coolest tricks that can be pulled off easily and reliably in an AMF/Dead Magic Zone.  For now, race, class features and feats are outside of the purview of the handbook (unless it's an item/location that grants one of those).  This is more for items, grafts, skill uses, skill tricks, and locations, as well as anything else that may not fall into the categories I already listed.

And before anyone says it, no.  Invoke Magic + 4th level or lower spells does not count.

Anyone think this would be interesting?  Any contributions or suggestions?

So, nobody thinks a guide or handbook for this is a good idea?

Sorry, I meant to respond earlier.

I guess it really depends on what you can dig up.

You'd probably want a section on flight, including wing grafts and winged mounts.  There's a graft that grants earth glide, which might be interesting.

Exceptional senses might be another thing to look for.

Blood elixers (Draconomicon, p116) provide the only extraordinary polymorph effect.  There are probably some other interesting alchemical items around.

True mindswitch and such need to be performed where magic works, but after that you're free to go into any dead magic zone you please.

A turbidus leech (Revised Bestiary of Krynn, p97) renders any charm or compulsion effects on the creature it's attached to permanent.  This is noted to come from chemicals it secretes and is presumably extraordinary.  The only extraordinary compulsion effect I can think of right now is the epic use of bluff.
