I am but one person, and I loath to stray too far from what I consider "Indisputable RAW." Although I make exceptions more and more, as of late. The Augmentation section, for example. I found that interesting enough that I felt the need to actually search the dragon magazine material.
I have wrestled with "Are the On-Line DLCs RAW?" as of late, especially due to the server lack of useable Psionic material. Ironically, I actually was going to use any Dragon Magazine material I could find on psionic powers, but I can't find any that wasn't reprinted in Expanded Psionic Powers (3.5), or is 3.0, and therefore unusable. I am seriously considering the need to create the Extrapolated Psionic Powers (3.0 to 3.5 Conversion), simply because I was wrong about my assessment of the number of Psionic powers. Even including what 3.0 powers are easily converted due to being a straight reference to "This is spell X, but as a psionic power" I have still dropped below 500 powers. However, having just uncovered some more sources of RAW psionics, I believe the final total should be 505. Don't quote me. I have only made it up to the E's. About 2/3rds of the powers to go. (I swear, why nobody noticed page 133 of the secrets of sarlona before, is beyond me.)
I've skipped ahead to stage 3 for section Psionomicon/Powers and I want to optimize the data before I move on. That way I can release it for peer review while I work on the other sections. Give me a few days. I'm on a roll.
As for those on-line services. They are nice, but often they have minor errors, or lack the complete entry. What I want most of all are COMMENTS, which they seem to lack. I have in fact offered up the EVD to several of those sites you listed and said, "If you don't want me on staff, that's fine, but for the love of god, correct your errors. just copy and paste from the EVD. Please."
The responce has been, "thanks but no thanks."
So screw them. I prefer it in downloadable content anyways. I don't trust having internet access at all times. I hate the Cloud.
Oh, if you wish to contribute, I'm welcome to it. I suppose some guide lines:
If You want To Change an entry:
Just PM me, that's good enough.
If you want to change an entire section a WHOLE BUNCH:
Ask me first to make sure you have the latest copy. I update stuff at random. That way I can put that section on hold on my end while you make your alterations. All alterations will be reviewed. I reserve the right to change anything you add, if you are incorrect. Opinions and subjective observations are rarely incorrect and are usually included verbatum. Anything with a 'b', is up for grabs right now,.
You want to add your own stuff entirely:
Here's my only problem with that, Formatting and completeness.
If you want to see an example.
HEREThat isn't good enough. You need to make something better then that. Do you see the insane level of detail? How I got EVERY POSSIBLE ACF and every possible combination, and reformated EVERYTHING to be in compliance with the latest printing of the 3.5 rules? I'm not happy with it. Not even close.
There is a reason I haven't moved onto classes yet. Because my own OCD won't let me. So you want to work on something, that's fine. Just understand that I'm not going to be kind. I expect the ability to say, "This is EVERYTHING on this topic." In one file, and be at least 95% correct.
That guide to wizards "being Batman" or some such looks good at first glance, but it is slap shod and horribly incomplete. It's a steaming pile of suggestions in my opinion. Excellent ideas, if you want to strip mine it, but over all I find reading it to be painful. It sets my teeth on edge. If a handbook makes me go elsewhere to look something up about the topic it is talking about, then that's just plain lazy.
That said, I won't hold anyone else to the same level as I do myself. Just don't expect to get out of beta release anytime soon.
