TWF Axes Bardbarian
« on: December 07, 2013, 08:16:25 PM »
I'm trying to make a character for

(click to show/hide)

since I'm tired of seeing him lie around unpainted. He's clearly a barbarian, a human, and using two axes. The only things I really need in the build are:

- Darkvision (probably Celestial Attended Birth and Otherworldly)
- ECL 8, no LA
- 93pb (1 point = 1 stat point; 18 high; 8 low - yes, this is ridiculous)
- Human
- Faerunian
- Axe-wielding Barbarian

I was thinking it might be fun to throw Bard in the mix since I'm wanting TWF and that throwing might be fun if it could somehow fit in the build. My last character was a missile specialist.

Books:
- No mags
- No non-Faerun CS's
- That's probably it

Thoughts?

The shape of the heads of those weapons makes me think of deep crystal.  Psychic warrior or ardent are both good.

Is he "clearly" a barbarian because he uses axes and wears fur?  Is that fur?  Your tiny picture makes it hard to discern anything.

What are "CS's?"

Ranger 2 (for TWF without having to focus on Dex)/Barb 1/Bard 1/Warblade or Crusader 1 (for Song of the White Raven)

3 more levels of your choice. :D

Sorry, that's the biggest thing google yielded.

CS = Campaign Setting

Rangers are cool.

Doesn't have to be a barbarian just looks like one.

How about Barb 2/Bard x/Master Thrower x? Stats don't matter too much. Very easy to get 18 in four stats with that ridiculous convention.

This, though I prefer Warblade of the two due to Iron Heart Surge. Stance of Leading the Charge or Bolstering Voice. If you want Iron Heart Surge at ECL 8, though, you'll need a second level of Warblade as your 8th level (to make 5th initiator level). This leaves two remaining levels of choice.

Since you want a TWF Barbarian, may I recommend Spirit Lion Totem ACF? Pounce is godly.
Also for TWF, you need either absurd strength or good additional damage per-die (either of which is doable by a VARIETY of ways)

Human Paragon 2/Barbarian 2/Ranger 2/Warrior Skald 2.  Pick Perform as your Human Paragon Adaptive Learning skill so you can qualify for Warrior Skald.
Consider dropping the second level of Barbarian in exchange for Fighter or the las Human Paragon level.
I'm not arguing, I'm explaining why I'm right.

Yeah, I assumed I'd be pouncing. I think it might be too feat/class ability starved for Ranger (ie it can't afford a "dead" level for a feat).

Barbarian 1-2
Bard 1-4
Master Thrower 1
Warblade/Crusader X

Silverbrow Human

Dragonfire Inspiration
Words of Creation
TWF
PBS
Precise Shot

I should probably just look up throwing builds and tweak them as needed. Linklord, I looked at Skald but didn't want to pick up cleave. I also think two uses of DFS is too few. However, from a roleplay perspective, it might be too perfect to pass up!

You can also grab the Wolf Totem ACF from Unearthed Arcana (wolf totem and lion spirit totem can both be taken since they trade out different class features) to get Improved Trip for free.

Hence why I made barb a 1-2 level cut off. I'm typing from my phone so I'm lazy. Imp trip doesn't stack with MT's trip so its fairly useless here.

I was originally thinking that DF inspiration was a good option for damage (esp for party - the 2d6 adds up) but I'm toying with Brutal Throw/Power Throw and 3 levels of MT instead of 1 (dropping bard).

Given that your stats are probably going to be 18/18/18/18/13/8 (arrange to taste), taking Ranger just to get around TWF's Dex 15 requirements isn't really needed. Just take the feat normally and get Gloves of the Balanced Hand (18000 gp in MoF, 8000 gp in MiC) later on for ITWF (or, again, just take the feat). After that, you want the usual shtick of bonus damage to build off of your 2 extra attacks.

Yeah I'm thinking this might be less of a headache if I just go some combination of Fighter Barb Rang Warblade Bloodstorm Blade Master Thrower and Power Attack via L2 Bloodstorm Blade..

I've never played one so it might be fun. Instead of completely cheesing it up with Bull Rushing ill just trip and hit hard. Man, I have a lot of luxury feats/class levels now though.
