I've been (slowly) watching the episodes of "A Game of Thrones" and I just finished the one where Daenerys Targaryen bought the Unsullied army... Oh my god, that was probably the greatest thing I've ever seen on screen.  :cloud9

I thoroughly enjoyed the books, but can't bring myself to like the series. I've tried, but... Just, no. I don't think they did a very good job, there. There are some good moments, and the guy that plays Tyrion is very good at what he does, but... Yeah, i still prefer the books. Sorry.

Same here. It just didn't hold my attention.

Then again, I hate sitting and watching stuff without doing other things as well. I usually end up coding a bit or playing Sudoku to slow myself down to the point where I can pay attention to the moving pictures.

I didn't watch the series neither read the books from Game of Thrones. Don't have the time for LOTR clone #4521 just because it has naked bewbs (casts protection from rocks on self) :p

I did read the Africanus trilogy recently. About Scipion Africanus, dunno if you heard of him, just the roman general who saw Hannibal deploy some eighty war elephants in front of him along some tens of thousands of his veteran elite infantry that had been rampaging across Italy for years, and just went "zero fucks given", proceeding to curb-stomp the greatest Carthaginian  military commander anyway.

I have zero time for recreational books these days. I can watch the occasional show while working out or something, though.

I read the first book, didn't like it, and then didn't like the show because it was done wrong and they changed too many things from the book.

I think that Angry Nerd covered just about everything.
I also like FrankTrollman's characterization of "he got lost in writing 3 books worth of War of the Roses fanfic".

I completely checked-out after aFfC (for multiple reasons).

I would watch if they made a Malazan Book of the Fallen series.

Who can say no to the fact that they would have a town literally chest deep in corpses by the 3rd episode? Or the fact that it would have one of the greatest set-pieces ever. Several times.

I just want to see a desert city burning so hard that a fire elemental is born from it; is that too hard to ask.

So yeah.

Demonstration of agility in heavy (full plate) armor, and execution of some quick & simple techniques used to circumvent the protection given by it.

Interestingly, it seems all of the techniques shown do not attempt to bend, cave-in or pierce the armor at-all. Every one of the techniques shown try to go for the gaps in the armor.
