Blue, toxic, corrosive sulphuric acid blue flames in a volcano:

http://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/why-does-indonesian-volcano-burn-bright-blue-180949576/?no-ist

What's not to like about it?

What's not to like is the terrible conditions the people around that volcano put themselves in to mine the rocks for sulfur.  The video is cool, but it's a pity there doesn't seem to be anything done to help those people who work around it.

Yes... The sulfur miners get it rough. Nasty respiratory diseases and eventually going blind is not cool. But so's the condition of salt miners in Africa, who also work near a volcano at 60Cº or so every single day (Can't remember said volcano's name, though). So's the condition of child laborers in China and all other countries... Coal miners, too...
If i was to get sad over all the bad stuff that happens all over the world, i wouldn't be even able to move from my bed... So much of what we buy is the product of cruelty... Animal and otherwise.

I try to avoid going to those places in my head. It gets in the way of admiring the beauty  and variety of the world.
"All the pride and pleasure of the world, mirrored in the dull consciousness of a fool, are poor indeed compared with the imagination of Cervantes writing his Don Quixote in a miserable prison" - Schopenhauer, Aphorisms: The Wisdom of Life

I go to those places every once in a while to remind myself that no matter how bad my life might get, theirs is much worse.  And it helps motivate me to do more and get out to make a difference.  Hopefully for people like that someday.

i guess in that case, i won't mention where the safety equipment we have today had it's roots in.

There are certainly some interesting things that have come about from unpleasant circumstances...  In talking with one of my friends I learned that the chemicals used in glow sticks were originally made in Germany during The Holocaust as a way to slowly kill people.

Kinda changes the way one looks at a glow stick exploding inside of a peep in a microwave.

By the way, glowstick juice tastes nasty.  Speaking from experience.

It wasn't on purpose.  It broke and got all over me and in my mouth.  Worst Nutcracker ever(I was, like, 6?  Maybe younger?)
