So, my mom had jewelry stolen from her - a lot of it, and it was really valuable. We noticed it a couple of months ago. Cue investigation, turns out our maid did it. Little proof, unfortunately, and she's a smart thief, she doesn't keep stolen goods at home.
So this morning, the Courthouse Secret Service (perks of being a judge: they have a special task force for dealing directly with crimes involving them. It's a way of keeping them clean, too, because otherwise they'd be able to press their influence on regular police) dropped by because they needed to dump her text messages from her phone. But they were only getting run-on text, which basically annihilated context (my mom uses an iPhone, which means access to anything important is pretty much impossible without jailbreaking).
I managed to do it in five minutes.
I've never felt more awesome simply from knowing how to use Google. And I'm feeling optimistic as I am going to start a career on IT-based administration next year - the SS guys were impressed enough that they said they might call on me for help again.
It was something really simple, but I feel really awesome about it.
