I've never had one, but aren't you supposed to blow out a flaming shot before you drink it?

I imagine that's the cowardly option. You can wave your hand through fire; just drink it fast enough and you should be fine.

I saw someone try to drink one while it was still on fire once

Unfortunately she had already had quite a few and tried to knock it back way too quickly.... cue burning liquid all over her face. (she was fine, if a little singed afterwards)

Something similar happened to me with tequila.

It was like pouring acid into my throat. Kinda hard to swallow, that, so I coughed it up.

I have never drunk tequila slowly. That stuff tastes nasty.

There's a difference between downing it and throwing it into your throat. Especially when you don't have lemon on hand to dispose of the taste.

Okay, I've been searching for five minutes, I CANNOT find an image of Fry eating the sterno nicoise.  The closest I found is Bender eating it.  And that's one of the only images I've found of that episode, and only one in Elzar's from that episode...

Anyways, imagine that image posted here.

No, that's the cowardly option.

True connoisseurs sip their burning drink while maintaining eye contact with the bartender. You have to savour the taste of ash to truly appreciate such fine drinks.

(Also, nightmare meat goes better with mead than rum; it's a bit spicy and bitter, so you need that extra bit of sweetness #TheMoreYouKnow)

How do you out-sweet rum. It's fermented sugar cane.

Sugar cane actually has a bit of bitterness in it. Plus, wrong kinda sweet.

Apparently Star Wars has snuck up on me.  I almost forgot they were working on it.

The atmosphere feels.... good.  I can't quite define it, but it feels like an older Star Wars.

I see they're going with the Claymore-Saber.  Interesting.

Regular lightsabers looked like a nightmare in training waiting to happen.

The claymore-saber feels like you should be asking, "wut?"

Isn't that why they're usually restricted to force users?  Because they have the precog necessary to avoid self injury?

I've seen a lot of alternate lightsaber designs.  This is one of the more reasonable ones.

Though the microsabers on the side are a hazard for sure, they also do serve the part of an actual crossguard at least.  Combined with force pre-cog magic and it'll be fine.

The "lightsaber armor spikes" on the other hand....

I'm with you on this Eiji.  One of the more practical of the alternates.  But I do agree that they don't need to keep making new sabers....

Ultimately I'm ok with the villian having an iconic saber.  First it was just being red (on account of the only saber shown by a Sith), then a saber-staff, or having quad-sabers.  It's not too bad.  But if they go this route they should take care to keep it viable.  I could think of a few designs before having to settle on the ball and chainsaber.

I have a birthday! :O

Welcome to aging!  A birthday cake has been dropped from orbit at your location.  The celebration pod will arrive in T-5 minutes.  Please assume the party position for delivery of cake.

I have a birthday! :O

I had this Japanese gentleman congratulate you on my behalf.

I've watched the whole series that's from. And I saw the compilation of every time he said Happy Birthday in the whole series earlier. :P

So, my mom had jewelry stolen from her - a lot of it, and it was really valuable. We noticed it a couple of months ago. Cue investigation, turns out our maid did it. Little proof, unfortunately, and she's a smart thief, she doesn't keep stolen goods at home.

So this morning, the Courthouse Secret Service (perks of being a judge: they have a special task force for dealing directly with crimes involving them. It's a way of keeping them clean, too, because otherwise they'd be able to press their influence on regular police) dropped by because they needed to dump her text messages from her phone. But they were only getting run-on text, which basically annihilated context (my mom uses an iPhone, which means access to anything important is pretty much impossible without jailbreaking).

I managed to do it in five minutes.

I've never felt more awesome simply from knowing how to use Google. And I'm feeling optimistic as I am going to start a career on IT-based administration next year - the SS guys were impressed enough that they said they might call on me for help again.

It was something really simple, but I feel really awesome about it.

I can confirm that a lot of working in IT involves googling for other people.
