Why would subjugation even be a factor?

Seriously, the chance that their biology allows them to even survive in our atmosphere is a pretty tiny one.

Plus, our subjugation was mostly for three reasons: religious, resources, and labor. We can pretty much strike resources and labor off the list (for the reasons dman11235 is bringing up), and religious is something we can't even account for.

You're forgetting a key fourth reason: entertainment.

Human beings will dive to the deepest sea and tallest mountain just for shit and giggles, even at the risk of our own lives. And we'll take any "souvenirs" that we can carry. Which includes killing them in exotic ways if they didn't want to come with us.

So if advanced aliens arrive to the Earth, we'll have to do our best for our planet to appear as boring as possible, or they may turn our planet into their personal holyday resort/hunting park.

We don't vacation on the Moon right now.  It wouldn't be anyone who would do what you said above.  The first people to get here would be scientists, not tourists.  Unless they are able to have FTL travel, in which case they would already be here and/or we would have seen the activity at other stars and stuff in the area.

EDIT:  Actually, the first thing to come here would be a satellite and/or a robot.

Because why risk precious minds when you can send an AI instead!  :p

Exactly!  And it's, like, SO much cheaper.  Like you don't even know.  Currency wise and energy wise.

Probably anyone making the effort to go anywhere via slowboat is there to colonize anyway...

And this is how we rationalize the decision to make sexbots, too.

Humans already widely use sexbots. They're called vibrators. :p

I understand that you couldn't possibly grasp the concept, but many scientists out there enjoy their work. A lot of research provides no resources, no labor, and no religion. We do it mostly for the challenge and if we there's any extras from it, score!

And biologists in particular love to collect live specimens and then cut them open to see how they are inside.

EDIT:  Actually, the first thing to come here would be a satellite and/or a robot.
Which will still be following their scientist' orders to collect specimens and cut them open to see how they are inside.

There'll be no pratical difference for us between a doomsday bot and a exploration probe with giant laser drills. Both will tear up holes in our stuff.

Given the likely possibilities and directions that science is headed, there will be no practical difference between sending a small satellite and sending themselves. Ansible + molecular fabricator + digitally encoded minds = beam yourself through space (or even exist as a distributed network of bodies, like a hivemind).

Any society advanced enough to be visiting other solar systems will have likely achieved all of the above before getting here (assuming that an ansible turns out to be a real possibility).

Yours doesn't?

I thought it came standard, along with the death ray.

(Also, there is a real possibility that the intelligent life won't give a shit about expansion. Or recognize our existence. I seem to recall reading somewhere that most of the other viable options vis-a-vis chemical composition for life require near absolute-zero temperatures to function.)

We stopped "cutting it open to see what's inside" over a hundred years ago.  Now we do it in a controlled way.  They wouldn't just come here and start cutting us up.  They'd observe, and then when someone dies of natural causes, cut that person up and see what's inside.  And given that we are intelligent*, they'd be better served to try to communicate first.

*A lot of theories are that they wouldn't view us as intelligent.  But I find that to be a load of bunk.  We have artificial satellites.  We have communications.  It is clearly not natural, and a clear indication of intelligent life.  They may be so advanced as to view us as useless in terms of new scientific insight, they would treat us as an intelligence, albeit an inferior one.

That doesn't make sense to me. More explanation? Source?

It was an old article by Asimov I read a while back - probably not up to date. But I seem to recall that the reasoning had something to do with material properties at really low temperatures.

Anyone else know what I'm talking about, or am I chatting out of my ass?

that would be damn funny.  Give the owner a lil shock by programming the vibe to say 'Take it Sheila!" (or their name) once the users heart rate passed a certain pre-determined point.

Uh...that's kind of what we still do, especially if samples are plentiful and you require a lot of detailed study, you'd disassemble a bunch for details. Scanning is nice, but controlled disassembly remains one of the best ways to obtain as much detail on a subject as possible.

The issue especially is in interacting with life of different nature/scale. Considering the most common means of physical and chemical analysis. Testing and assumptions would be rooted in their own nature.

Probably only if it'd improve performance. There's value in adaptive sex toys.

The color is midnight blue, and the green is mint.
