So, I'm at a LARPing event. This the second-to-last event of this particular setting - after that, we're moving on to a completely different one.
I play a cleric of an ancient fire deity by name of Doran Johannes Oldstorm ("but my friends call me DIO").
Anyways.
There is unrest in the kingdom. King Bram Wolf has recently been assassinated by his sister-in-law for the murder of her husband. The true heirs to the throne, the Rodnak family, have surfaced, and are currently engaged in trying to recover control over the lands rightfully theirs, as well as driving back the threat of the orcs and the Shadow Lords (which are basically undead).
With the aid of the head of the Order of the Lonely Star, Ubiec Sigmund, DIO manages to calm the tempers enough when Juliet Wolf, the King's assassin, comes to the city of Newood to accuse interim King Proudwolf of being the mastermind of her husband's murder. Meanwhile, the orcs come knocking, and with the aid of a mysterious wizard, DIO and a handful of fighters must fend off the attackers. In the process, they manage to capture a lieutenant of Skullsmasher, the Orc leader. Returning to the city, the old cleric and his entourage proceed to extract information from the orc captive. The new 'king' seems to be in a strange hurry to execute said captive without even getting anything useful... which DIO finds suspicious in and of itself.
Absconding with the captive past the city walls, DIO and Ubiec uncover a sinister plot. The Rodnak and Proudwolf families are both in league with the orcs, and Bram Wolf's murder was actually orchestrated by the new 'King'! DIO also has reason to suspect that the Shadow Lords could be involved, with the Rodnak family being a mere puppet that would allow them to seize power. They are faced with a difficult choice. They could try to expose the Proudwolf crimes and association with nothing but the orcs' words to back them up, and thus initiate a three-front war with no allies to speak of, or they could send the orc back to bring their leaders a message. Tricking the orc into believing he'd been cursed (so he would definitely deliver the message), DIO sends Ubiec back into the city as he alone follows the orc back to their encampment, in an attempt to negotiate. It is up to the fates if he will succeed...
(It will be literally decided with the roll of a die. If he does succeed, it'll be an awesome opportunity to utter the following line:
"You expected the orcs... BUT IT WAS ME, DIO!")
