Magewright's Make Whole
« on: February 17, 2014, 06:20:49 AM »
I am working in a Magewright/Gnome Artificer and I can't stop looking at the Make Whole Spell.
Can I use it to replenish the device charges?

Ouch. Too bad.
What about Minor Creation then?

IIRC there is no spell that replenishes the charges in a thing, unless the thing has rules stating as such.  If you want to not drain charges from a thing, then you need to use something like Channel Charge (Lost Empires of Faerun) to pro-actively not use the charges in the first place.

Also IIRC, the only spell that can be used to create magical items is Wish.

But the beauty of Gnome Artificer is that its devices are not magical at all.

... and can make Wand equivalents, but with as many charges as you want.  Legally.  No back-story b.s. either.

(edit) --- Solo said No ... I've some details.
Mending says:   The spell can repair a magic item, but the item’s magical abilities are not restored. The spell cannot mend broken magic rods, staffs, or wands,
Make Whole references Mending.

Say a Gnome Arty's fancy item is Sundered.  Make Whole could fix the item, but not charge it.

edit 2 ... I wonder if a Gnome Arty can be used as an oddball + late entry into Shadowcraft goodies ??

Oh, that.

No, nothing you are asking about will work.

What about a Truenamer?
I'm not arguing, I'm explaining why I'm right.

Oh you mean the Tiles Trick.
hmm ... that repair object wtf it's called
is worded differently.

If forget when exactly the Tiles thing can happen
but it's later than a normal qualifying for G.A.
Heh, Magewright > Truenamer.  No surprise.

However I'd hazard a guess that it would work
and that it might even be playable ... In an
I-love-Tier-5 kind of way.  The G.A.'s extended
list is only Illusion(Shadow) and needs at least
a Limited Wish to access, good thing they're (su).
Recharge Gnome Arty = cheesy, but not cheese.
