Necrotic Cowboys [3.5]
« on: April 02, 2014, 09:08:18 PM »
So, thinking of starting up a 3.5 campaign (and the name will probably change. I chose this one for fun). There's a fair number of details in the various spoilers below, but I've put the most important bits and pieces up top:

  • Desired Players: 3-5
  • Would like to have a Co-DM
  • Optimization: Moderate
  • Class Tier: 3 and below
  • Starting Level: 3

If there's anything missing or in need of clarification, please just ask.

Current Players:
  • Nanshork (might DM)
  • Raineh Daze
  • PhaedrusXY
  • Risada
  • Ketaro
  • Oslecamo
  • Gazzien

Well now, I remember playing something like this long long ago!

I'm willing to play or co-DM.  :)

Also, instead of Libris Mortis undead classes I'd suggest looking over/allowing Oslecamo's versions.

Os's undead gives more variety.

Playing a walking corpse appeals to me, if I can make them really annoyed that their millennial slumber was disturbed and their tomb looted. I want to play a temporally displaced corpse-monarch. :p

Well, like I said, homebrew is allowed. So if a player wants to use them, just pick the right one out and bring it to my attention  :D

And whether you're DM or player might depend on the rest of the people hopping it. And yes, you'd be right that Marleath is one of the Arhosan kingdoms, although I'm being slightly less ambitious this time and also changed some of the setting basics (there's no more useful living creatures, primarily).

Well, you'd have to come up with a really good reason for why you are level 3 and beholden to someone within Marleath's aristocracy...

Holy crap I am so in! :D

Welcome, mate  :clap

You stole all my stuff and woke me up after centuries of inactivity since the last tomb robber.. Surely it's forgiven to forget stuff when you only had to drive off a few rogues every couple of centuries? :p

How many people are in again?

If there's a spot available, I would like to join this game.

There's a spot, so you're good to go :D

As long as it's not a PHB Sorcerer, you're okay  :smirk

Like finding homebrew sorcerers is hard. <.<

And they're often more dangerous. :p

I could always do a Ghost/Favoured Soul/Prestige Paladin, if you want. Like that makes sense.* :lmao

*I think it would land itself on 8th level spells.

... what is sad is that you've banned bards and thus I cannot play an undead rockstar. Well, unless you'd allow SirP's Powerbard. EVERYTHING NEEDS MORE ROCK.

Finding one isn't hard... Getting it approved, on the other hand...

And if you want to play a Dirgesinger or Bard or the like, I'm open to suggestions. Bard's not really one of the classes I really want to ban from PHB. The only one, more or less. Plus, I do have a bunch of homebrew classes with Bardsong.

Idea: I want to play a Swarm Shifter of Undead Sand (Tomb Dust) that just 'rides' on some one unnoticeable via the Dust to Dust ability. Maybe a base race of Flameskull and I'm thinking of taking it down a bardic route, but it doesn't necessarily have to be Bard bard. But I'm definitely thinking a party buffer in the bardic sense.

Something's singing but nobody can find the source! :D

Let's all be undead bards!
We'll make it lore that the world hated bards back when we were alive and now we return as undead to bring about a cultural revolution through ROCK & ROLLUnDeath Metal!
(Oh ho ho, ketaro how are you so clever!)

Psychic Singer looks nice. But I've never really gotten into or used psionics before. If Raineh would really rather be the bard though, I could just go full psion and go learn the system finally  :p

I remember the zombie monster classes (Oslecamo's stuff, but written by Anomander) looked awesomely hilarious. I'm thinking maybe a zombie crusader, or maybe a morgh (although it seems a monster class hasn't been written for that one!).

I'd be sooooo tempted to rule the crusader's healing is positive energy plane derived!  :lmao (I wouldn't, of course)

Bonus points for dressing up in corpse paint and black leather!

Ah, do note Psion and Wilder are on the banned list (that whole Tier 3 and down thing). Psychic Warrior, Singer, and so on are perfectly legal though :)

Also, this is a lot of bardic enthusiasm... Maybe I should give bonus gear to anyone who somehow manages to sing some of my namesake songs in character in the game...  :lol

Well I probably would be leaning more towards Psychic Warrior just cause it seems easier to wade into for never having played a psion before.
If Raineh really wants to be the bard :p

If the Elementalist could also draw spells with energy/elemental descriptors other than those listed, I think I'd rather this. For example, the Wu Jen has [Metal] spells.  :D
I'd also reflavor the Elemental Form as merely changing the color of my flames (because I'm just a flaming skull :p ) rather than actually turning into an elemental, but of course still mechanically becoming an elemental. I want to burn with all the colors of the rainbow!

You know... this would probably be a great game to try out Osteomancy in... if I had time to read through it. :P

Hrmm. I've always considered that class Tier 2, mostly because it's an amazing blaster, has a wider than expected nine level spell list, and because the class abilities are city destroyers. And make a Warlock wish it could snipe at the same power level.

If you can somehow convince me otherwise, or tune it down, it's yours.

If you snag it, you would have DM assistance... In so much as I'd be happy to hold your hand through learning it :D
