Crazy, right?

Halaster's Fetch is a crazy spell, it is Summon Monster 3 levels lower, but the summoned creature becomes uncontrolled at the end of the duration and does NOT disappear.

as I said, a great way for a necro to get some monster corpses of his choice for free
FTFY. Yeah, that Halaster is a wacky dude...
Well, how else was he supposed to keep a dungeon stocked with monsters with a constant stream of adventurers!

Reaver's Cutlass is a grappler's dream. just have a couple of them and wound the crap out of someone

Quote from: Stormwrack
Reaver’s Cutlass: This +1 wounding cutlass is the weapon favored by the most bloody-hearted of pirates. Its hilt is wrapped in tanned humanoid skin, and it seems to sing for blood as it is swung.
If a reaver’s cutlass attaches to an opponent, it twists into the wound as though alive and continues to deal Constitution damage each round it remains attached. To remove it, an opponent must achieve a pin and spend one full round wrenching it free. The weapon makes a grapple check as the wielder (even though she no longer holds it) and takes no size penalty.
Strong evocation; CL 12th; Craft Magic Arms and Armor, animate objects, Mordenkainen’s sword; Price 26,310 gp; Cost 13,310 gp + 1,040 XP.

That is literally a Save-or-Suck.
"if a reaver's cutlass attaches ..."

How does it attach? On a crit? Some kind of failed save?

The ability doesn't say.  I'd treat it as either a Stirge's attach ability, or a flesh grinding weapon, both of which happen automatically (or activated as a free action) after any hit, with no roll to resist.  There are only rules to grapple it out of the wound after it has attached.

didn't even notice the text was missing that key info

Antimagic Aura bypasses Antimagic Field protections

prob been mentioned before, but...
Runescarred Berserker's spell scars are activated as a standard action. This means any swift spell blows, but any spell that requires longer than a std action to trigger are awesome.

I was browsing through the dndtools.eu app (which is awesome btw) to see how it worked, and re-discovered the Spelltouched feats. I don't think I'd looked at them since becoming an optimizer... there's actually some really awesome stuff in there.

Conductivity is kinda cool if for some reason you'll be taking a lot of electricity damage... I'm curious how it would interact with a Shambling Mound abuse build, actually. If you have a setup to auto-take electricity damage, it would be sweet to be able to fire some of that off at your enemies.

False Pretenses is very similar to the Disobedience spell. The spell is superior, but the feat could be a good replacement if you don't have access; also the feat doesn't allow the caster a save to realize what happened.

Live My Nightmare is just awesome. Every time you're targeted by a divination, you throw a free phantasmal killer at the source. While many things will likely be immune to mind-affecting stuff, if not, this is a great feat for high-charisma builds. The best part of this is the side effect that you automatically know whenever you're targeted by a divination spell!

Momentary Alteration gives a non-caster (who has drunk a potion of Alter Self before) access to Alter Self for 1 minute/day. If you can't think of ways to abuse this you're not trying.

Naturalized Denizen is absolutely required for Fiends of Possession.

Omniscient Whispers gives you a free 1-question commune once per week. Not too overpowered because of the limitations, but still kinda cool.

Polar Chill is awesome for a precision damage build, since 1/day you can make everyone in a 20-foot radius flat-footed. Basically it's a free ice slick casting.

UMD and a 4420 gp eternal wand gives you alter self 2/day. The wand lasts 30 minutes and lets you pick different forms instead of the same one every time.

What's not counting as extraplanar got to do with possession? You can't be targeted by banishment/dismissal while possessing objects and creatures that are not themselves extraplanar anyways, and at-will etherealness means you're probably across a planar boundary from whoever would try to banish you.

Like grease, it only makes people flat-footed if they try to move. It does affect a much larger area and with a longer duration, though.

Because of their tree shape ability or...?  I'm not seeing it.

Agreed.  It works like tree shape. Tree Shape doesn't make the caster eligible for Awaken, and neither does the Forestkith Goblins' ability.

Tree Shape (Su): A forestkith goblin can change form
into a small tree, shrub, or limb, equivalent to the tree shape
spell as cast by a 12th-level druid. A forestkith goblin
typically uses this ability at or near daybreak as a form of
camouflage, due to its dislike for daylight.
A goblin cannot dismiss this effect, but it ends automatically
at sunset or if the goblin takes damage.

yeah, but since it's not actually the spell (equivalent though), it seems like it could work when he goes into tree sleep

Tree Shape =/= Tree Shape

[but i'm probably just looking into it too much]

It makes no mention of changing the type to [Plant], so I don't think it does.

As Tree Shape...
Quote from: Tree Shape
By means of this spell, you are able to assume the form of a Large living tree or shrub or a Large dead tree trunk with a small number of limbs. The closest inspection cannot reveal that the tree in question is actually a magically concealed creature.

I just... read Necrotic Tumor.

Holy. Shit. I know the spells granted by Mother Cyst are strong (they all require you to tag someone with a 2nd level spell), but...

It's a 7th level spell which duplicates Suggestion on a successful save.

On a failed save, it's a permanent domination effect. That doesn't have any actions that you can't make the creature do (Kill themselves? Go right ahead!). That isn't blocked by spells that block mind-control, because the tumor is already inside them.

I forgot to mention that it is not a mind-affecting ability, didn't I?
