I'm AFB, but I seem to recall that the Pillar of Geryon has a huge equivalent gp.  I don't think there's any set rule on how one implements that in their game, but if someone considers location benefits as part of WBL -- a not entirely unreasonable approach -- then, if memory serves, it's a lot less attractive.

It's 36k, Wands of Wraithstrike are cheaper and 10k is about the given for purchasing a Feat if you're thinking Martial Study(emerald razor). So yeah, a tad expensive.

Shriver is amazing through. 30k for immunity to Fear, Sickened/Nausea, Confusion, Fatigue/Exhaustion, +2 to Will Saves, Regeneration 5/Good & Chaotic, 1/day CL5 Barkskin as a free action, the Diehard feat, and you can try redirecting healing spells onto you. The catch? I made my own version in real, women show signs of fatigue/exhaustion afterwards so it's not working quite right.

It's also a +3/+6 weapon, for what it's worth. That's why the cost is so high.

And it is 1/round as a free action. All day long.

Oh, 36k is actually quite reasonable for the benefits.  Thanks.

Arcane Preparation (from Player's Guide to Faerun) lets you prepare your spells like a Wizard. More importantly, any spell prepared this way can be cast as a Standard action.

Hilariously enough, a Wizard with the Spontaneous Divination ACF qualifies for the feat. So they can then prepare their spells, and cast them as a Standard action. That is, if your DM agrees that a Wizard 'knows' their spells.

EDIT: And that is probably why they fixed it in Complete Arcane! I can be a bit thick sometimes.

If you can get their Supernatural abilities, a Siabrie is an awesome form to take.

They have:
  • A gaze attack that renders people Helpless unless they make a  DC 24 Will save.
  • A save-or-die touch attack, that is not a Death effect (or a Polymorph effect, even though it turns you into a pile of nonmagical sand).
  • Immunity to Mind-Affecting attacks, ability to see invisible creatures, and immunity to flanking. As one ability.
  • A very poorly written ability that let's you render everyone within a mile Shaken. I personally think that the second sentence (about the radius growing by a mile for each minute you maintain it) is probably a relic of an older version of the monster, but it is what it is.
  • 1/day Elemental Swarm, except you get all of the Elementals at once, you can't call Water elementals, and they get a bonus based off of what type they are (Air get an extra 1d10 damage on all of their attacks, Earth is immune to Piercing, and Fire gets an 80' speed and a +4 bonus to AC).
  • Whenever you are hit by a Fire spell or effect, you negate it and gain THP equal to the Fire damage you would take. If it's a magic item, it's just suppressed for 1d4 rounds.

Sure, it's a 3e monster, but it was never updated, so it should be valid. That last ability, especially, is kinda awesome; you destroy Walls of Fire by walking into them, you being in the area of a Red Dragon's breath weapon negates it for everyone...

I grabbed the wrong URL.

But yeah. 15 HD for a CR 18 creature.

EDIT: The Restless Prey template also has a pretty borked special ability, Restless Prey Symbiosis.

They get a +2 Profane bonus to their Charisma score for every other Restless Prey within 30', which stacks. And you can apply this template to any Animal or Vermin. Have a backpack full of Restless Prey rats or whatever, and Ability Rip Restless Prey Symbiosis from one of them.

You can fit 8 Diminutive creatures in a 5' square; for every 5' square you fill, you get a +16 bonus to your Charisma score.

1. Make a Large flying throne.
2. Fill the base with Restless Prey Rats. 32 of them should do.
3. Ability Rip Restless Prey Symbiosis from a separate creatures.
4. Get a +64 Profane bonus to Charisma.
5. ???
6. Profit.
Again, 3e, but pretty easy to convert.

The articles are actually not too hard to re-find.  Just change the www in the url to archive, and you'll get the page you were looking for!

Vermin Templates apply to Hairy Spiders, which are Fine sized and +0 LA.

But then I'd need to get it passed by a DM, because the template is 3e, and therefore does not have a listed LA.

But that bring up the idea of being filled with spiders.

Thoon would be pleased.

Also there is totally a guy in WotC in canon whose brain is made of spiders.  He's a guy who got stuck on the Far Realm.

Also reminds me of this one boss I ran, though he was filled with hands.

Unless the actual books changed something, Undead aren't actually immune to Fear effects or being Sickened/Nauseated, according to the SRD.

So if you have the means to get around their Mind-Affecting immunity, like with the Song of the Dead feat, you can totally make a Vampire cry by hitting them with a Fear spell.

This might be old news, but I had always assumed that they actually had immunity to Fear.

Yea, that kinda was a big point of contention between me and my old DM, "A square is a rectangle, but a rectangle is not a square kinda argument".
Like rider effects triggered on crits  against things immune to "extra damage from critical hits".

Oh yeah, totally works. I made a Ravenloft bard with the feat that lets you affect undead with bardic music along with Doomspeak and a few other things specifically so I could mess with them. :D

Dropping a thousand-pound boulder on someone from 40 feat up deals 20d6 damage (1d6 per 200 pounds per 10 feet).  Dropping a thousand rocks, each of which weighs .99 pounds, on someone from the same height deals no damage because objects weighing less than 1 pound do not deal damage to those they land upon, no matter how far they have fallen.

If you jump higher than your speed, it takes you longer to get to the top of your jump than it takes to get back to the ground.
I'm not arguing, I'm explaining why I'm right.

1000 lbs becomes 5d6 if it falls at least 10 feet.
40 foot drop becomes +3d6 after the first 10 feet.

8d6 equals 20d6?

Each 200 lb increment of the boulder's weight doesn't gain +1d6 per 10ft of distance dropped yanno.

Oh, I read that as +1d6 per 200 pounds, but I could be mistaken.  Either way, it was the second half that I wanted to draw attention to.
