Throwing Spiders: In some drow cities, specially-made throwing stars have become popular. Known as "throwing spiders," they're similar to shuriken in size and form, and like shuriken, three can be thrown in a single attack. Unlike shuriken, they cling to and bite (or burrow into) any target they hit, though the movements they make are very subtle indeed. Once a throwing spider hits, it sticks to the target and attacks as a tiny animated object (see Monster Manual for statistics). A throwing spider has hardness 10 and a grapple bonus of -9. It cannot move until after it is thrown, in which case it moves only to attack the target to which it is attacked. Its enhancement bonus of +1 applies to the attack and damage rolls it makes as an animated object.

Once attached, a throwing spider attacks its target once each round until removed, destroyed, or commanded to cease by its thrower. A throwing spider that misses its target or that is removed or ordered to stop attacking becomes inert until it is thrown again. Calling off a throwing spider is a free action, and the thrower must be within 50 feet of the spider to do so.

Caster Level: 11th; Prerequisites: Craft Arms and Armor, animate objects; Market Price: 2,961; Cost to Create: 1,301 gp + 80 XP.
Technically lost their 3/attack trait in the 3.5 update, but on the plus side Weapon Sizes were added so purchase them larger than normal for DM hate.

You also gain the Song of Deneir, which lets you spontaneously cast Cleric Spells as a Full-Round Action and it can be used to Cast more Spells per day than normal with a successful Fortitude Save. Wait wait wait...

So it's a weapon.

Add smoking WSA. Now it clings to the target and engulfs the target in a 5' stinking cloud. If the target fails it's saving throw, it's sickened. It can only take move actions. The spider is the center of the cloud so running away does no good. You cannot remove the spider without a standard action. Anyone who tries to help has to make a saving throw or be sickened, and unable to remove the spider.

Add Vile so you do one point of unstobbable/unhealable damage each round. Watch it chew someone to death 1 hp a round. Heh. I have my new BBEG weapon.

Sickened only imposes a few numerical penalties.  It's nauseated that limits a creature to a move action per round.

So then it becomes a save or die. Quite nice. But it gets better... You can coat it in poison.

Nifty.

And another find, a +2 LA Template & PrC.
(click to show/hide)

Oh, and do you need some NPCs?
A Spellfire Weilder.

Catti-brie, Regis, Ivan & Pikel Bouldershoulder, & Guenhwyvar.
Also includes some items including an infinite ammunition quiver and Catti's intelligent swords.

And hey why not have an expensive AMF-level barrier.
(click to show/hide)
Kind of expensive but it's not an AMF but a barrier so you can remain buffed up. So Shapechange the penalties away and eat people as a Spell-Immune Hydra or something.

Thowing Spider + Smoking + Enervating + Strength Sapping?

Turn him into a mewling kitten, slowly but surely.

Or stack every +d6 of energy damage you can WSA into it, throw Smoking and Merciful on, and have a ranged auto-cosh. They'll go down eventually, then you put in the boot.

Just to encourage the erudite scholars of this thread to help break another version:

14km+ raven swarm bombing range in 5th edition (the most balanced edition yet!)

www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?topic=15153.msg268004#msg268004

C'mon, fun finds are easy in 3.5ed. It's the most broken edition so far. Help us with 5th. We've only got 3 books of stuff to bust as yet. Still waiting on my DMG to see what it RAWs on in.

But a 7km bombing range at character level 8 is great. 14km at lvl 20 is nice too. I guess they can probably air-dash for 28km range, with a pre-briefing. 36km with an Imp Command and Control centre. When we get airpower in 5th ed up to triple-digit range I'll be happy.

Retributive Amulet:  +2 Sacred bonus to AC, and you only take half damage (rounded down) from melee attacks.  Your attacker takes the other half (rounded up).  BoED pg 116
I'm not arguing, I'm explaining why I'm right.

This is one of those iffy scenarios where the item has been re-printed, so the old version is 'obsoleted' according to the rules. The new one is in MIC, has 3 (immediate activation) charges of 'you take full damage, enemy takes half damage', and no longer carries an AC bonus. YMMV

I have a sudden urge to combine the Fling Ally feat with a Battle Jump build.  Alas, that whole "landing in an occupied square makes you prone" thing is annoying.

And now I'm looking at http://dndtools.pw/feats/drow-of-the-underdark--93/inlindl-school--3459/ and wondering about it working while wielding a heavy shield in one hand and a light shield in the other.  A light shield is technically a light weapon after all so it could benefit from Weapon Finesse.

Going prone is your problem?  There's a couple of easy fixes for that!

Combat Acrobat feat (PHB2): If you would fall prone, make a DC 20 balance check to remain on your feet. (Acrobatic Recovery use)

Boots of Agile Leaping (600gp, MIC) w/5+ ranks in Balance: Standing from prone is a swift action that does not provoke AoOs.

Either way you need to buy some ranks in Balance, but 5 is pretty easy for many builds, and not terrible for most others.  9 Balance and Tumble, plus a feat gets you a better option, but that requires more commitment to do.

The text is "If the ally lands in a square that is occupied, she lands prone in that square."  So there's the issue on whether the ally would be able to make the charge attack.  For style points I'd rule the charge attack comes first and then if it didn't kill the opponent they fall prone in the square.

Considering the throw happens on another creature's turn, the various swift action stands wouldn't work immediately.  It'd have to be no action or an immediate action.  Combat Acrobat doesn't have an action, so that'd work.

There's also the skill trick http://dndtools.pw/feats/complete-scoundrel--60/back-your-feet--3277/ that would work.

You said immediate action and by golly I gave ya one:
http://kmalloy.cloudapp.net/dndtools.eu/spells/players-handbook-ii--80/stand--2936/index.html

Just so you know, this is more commonly used for cheesy shadowpounce abuse. But what the hell, this idea of yours is better just for the cool factor.

Well, given how it's supposed to work, I'd say Combat Acrobat is your best choice, then, because it prevents you from going prone, so you don't have to worry about it interrupting anything you've got planned.  And then it doesn't matter whether the DM says that falling prone comes before or after the attack.

The Battlejumper may also want Giantbane (CWar) so they can climb on whatever they are flung at.

Though the climb aboard option is needlessly specific, so it may not actually work.

Yeah, the Climb Aboard option is too specific to work with the idea.

Forgive me if this is common knowledge, but I couldn't find a discussion of it anywhere.
Tiger claw maneuvers from Time of Battle do not  seem care about TWF rules. Since maneuvers  are not full attacks, you do not incur the penalties for TWF. So you could use two one-handed weapons when initiating a Tiger Claw strike and be perfectly fine.
I couln'd find anything on whether you would still get only 1/2 your strength on your other weapon though.

If I am wrong on this line of thinking, I do appologise. This is definitely an aspect of the rules I am not exactly familiar with.

Nope, you're entirely right.

My favorite TWF trick is a Whirling Frenzy Barbarian.
Make your first attack with a weapon in one hand, and your second attack with the weapon in your other hand.
Then, entirely ignore the TWF rules.

Oh, and a real fun find: dndtools.pw. Enjoy.
